Who says PS3 games don't sell? Konami should certainly be happy with the success of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots sales. With sales now over 5 million for the PS3 exclusive, Metal Gear Solid 4 is now one of the best selling PS3 titles. With sales in this fiscal year over 650,000 for the franchise, the series continues to sell strong.
Telling the final chapter in the long legacy of Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 4 was loved by many and will likely be remembered for the amazing movie experience the game delivered. While some had a few problems with some of the gameplay choices found in the game, most still enjoyed the game for the heart-moving experience.
Pushing the PS3 to a new level of graphics at the time, Hideo Kojima wanted to deliver an experience like no other on the PS3. Love or hate the game, it rightly deserved these 5 million sales. With sales now over 5 million, this makes the game the best-selling PS3 exclusive.
There are many million sellers on the PS3, with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves just recently selling over 2 million worldwide. Prior to Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue was the top-selling PS3 exclusive with over 4.6 million units sold.

Also I wasn't a gamer. The MGS4 videos I caught on youtube blew me away (I now know these were cut scenes). The in game graphics were also I never experienced. Kojima-san brought me into gaming, I also know own an XBox360.

This game was the first game I buy wiyh a street broken date I bought it for 300 two weeks before lunch I was so lucky !!! and for the record we always get early hits here in middle east ...
It's about freakin' time! MGS4 deserves so much more than that! what an incredible end to an incredible franchise! (technically it is the last in the Epic Saga, Rising being a prequel). Thanks for the info Matt.

i too bought my ps3 because of this game, but i got the MGS4 ps3 bundle in 2008 when it first came out. loving it since beat the game some 12-ish times.
Ps. a trophy patch is never coming, konaim only puts in patches that they can sell
still kinda pitiful in comparison to some 360 exclusives.
look at gears 2, that sold 2 million copies on its first day for crying out loud!
it would be interesting to see what would of happened if ps3 games sold like 360 games off the bat.

Name - what on earth are you talking about? How does selling more copies of a game make the game more quality? Look at how many copies Halo 3: ODST sold......was that a good game? No, it was a terrible game that even the blindest of 360 cheerleaders wouldn't have picked over a real GOTY like Uncharted 2.
Also, what are you talking about more exclusives? The PS3 had more exclusive games launch last year than the 360 has had for it's entire lifecycle......how many more do you need? LOL.

ok, the longer the games in development the more time they have to add things in, and if they have enough cash they can have access to outside sources like ND used a motion capture studio which are extremely expensive!
plus as i said if ps3 games sold like that off the bat sony would of had more cash and they would not of had to close all the studios they have, and LA Noire would of stayed exclusive, and 8 days and the getaway 3 would of not been shelved.
