James Stevenson, Marketing Manager for Insomniac Games, recently posted on his Twitter account how he feels about Sony's first-quarter line-up and all the big games they have released in the opening months of 2010. With titles like Heavy Rain, MAG, and White Knight Chronicles already out -- or will soon be in Heavy Rain's case -- Sony has released some major players for 2010. He later comments that the remaining games, MLB 10: The Show and God of War III continue that onslaught of releases. Interestingly, he refers to Final Fantasy XIII as the superior version of the title. In response to his Sony praise, he also stated that Mass Effect 2 is one of his all-time favorite games for the current gen.

There has been a lot of talk about the two versions, with the main course of action being if you own both systems, get the PS3 version, while if you only own an Xbox 360, the game will perform and look fine for you to enjoy. Final Fantasy XIII is the first main series Final Fantasy title to launch on multiple platforms. Aside from a slight graphical difference, the game is expected and said to perform identically to the PlayStation 3 version.

Final Fantasy XIII will launch on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 9th.

    Warning. Some Xbox trolls from N4G might come and spoil who the killer is for Heavy Rain.

    I suggest Examiner IP bans them. This isn't a paranoid post they have being doing it on other articles that 'insults' the Xbox that has being posted on N4G.

    Thanks Gezbox, they don't have any exclusives, so they try to ruin it for the rest of us.

    I agree with this article. Sony has the most dominant lineup by far, and their multi-platforms titles have pulled far ahead of the 360 since Arkham Asylum. Also, Mass Effect 2 is a good multi-platform game.

    Spoiler for the 360 fans, ME2 is going to a third platform by the end of the year. Sony to announce Mass Effect 1&2 at E3 for the PS3.

    Ps3 is boring, go buy a Xbox 360, best online community ever.

    Ps3 FFXIII superior? yes we know (no for much) but it seems someone is hurt because 360 steal the exclusive game.

    It's fun to see both sides of a fanboy. When this happened with Bayonetta, everyone was like "Don't torture yourself, get a 360 and the better version", now it's, "who the hell needs FF 13?".

    Hey Guy,

    I just want to honestly know which would be the best. I think that know one would really know which is the best till it finally releases and some review are posted. Great I applaud EA for releasing ME1&2 on PS3, but since I already played them. I'll be looking for something else to play and so will most of you since newer and shinier stuff will be out by then. I'm glad that FF13 is out on the 360. Some people need to realize that FF1-6 were on the Nintendo system and FF7-12 were on the playstation system so what if square wnats to release it on 360. PS3 fans go buy it, stop pirating the games and you'll see more exclusives that show what the PS3 can do. 360 still has a very good lineup for this year Splinter Cell, Halo reach, Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Alan Wake plus a few interesting arcade releases. It a good year for those who own multiple platforms. Wii has some good stuff as well as DSI and I'm crossing my finger for some PSP stuff.

    So ppl are discussing what console has the better version of a crappy rpg? Shouldnt ppl be concerned that the game is a steaming pile of crap no matter the system it is ported?

    and Microsoft lost major millions just to acquire a crappy rpg's inferior version on and FPShooter's console, LOL! I am sure no one will be complaining.

    So lets put this multiplatform thing to bed by agreeing in general with Johnathan Stevenson's statements. In the past PS3 games that were multiplat and performed better for the 360 (because they were developed for 360 and ported) were reviewed poorly compared to the 360 version and fanboys had a field day writing about the "inferior" and "unplayable" PS3 version. However owning only the PS3 I've played The Orange Box and Bayonetta on PS3 only and they play just fine. Lets stop using multiplats as flamebait and agree that they will be better on once console or another, but in most cases will run perfectly fine on both. And of course if you own both consoles, you will likely want to buy on the lead console given the choice. Bitter XBots go away, and gloating PS3 owners go away too.

    Does Mr. Stevenson ever mention WHY he feels that the PS3 will have the superior version of the game? Does he have any information that we don't?

    I'm honestly curious if there are any notable differences between the two.

    Based on what I know: Square unveiled a while ago that FFXIII development originally started on the PS2 (yes PS2) and was redeveloped for the newer consoles. It's unclear how much they re-wrote or if the PS3 was actually the lead console.

    We do know that square has released quite a few xbox 360 games this generation, either exclusive or as the lead platform, they've even had a PS2 port (FFXI) it stands to reason that they've got a good grasp of the 360's hardware at this point.

    I honestly find it laughable that people are still bickering over which console is superior, though as someone who owns both I do like to know what the differences are for particular titles so I can make an informed decision when I buy.

    @Lightelos: get off the web, your comments are not worth the bits.

    @mandoca: if you don't like FF then why are you commenting on an article which is actively posted as revolving around FF? And how would you know that FF13 is "crappy"? Have you played it? I very much doubt it. Get a brain cell and learn to comment where you can actually say something meaningful.

    I personally, am not sure how people are able to say "this version is superior to that version" BEFORE the game has been released (at least in the Western World). Would someone explain this phenomenon to me please? And in what part of that article does anyone say (barring the title) that one consoles version of FF13 is superior to another version? Unless the author has made an error, there is no quote of JS stating that he believes that one version is better than another so many of the comments already posted and, indeed, the title of this article have actually got nothing to do with his blog post.

    Well yeah, the Xbox 360 version runs at a native resolution of 1024x576, while the PS3 version is 1280x720.

    The result is a much blurrier image quality of the Xbox port.

    @Decogon
    this is the quote the article and everyone else is commenting about "PS3 is having a rockin' 1st q: MAG, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, and soon MLB10:The Show, GOWIII and the superior version of FFXIII"

    @mazingerdude
    that's pretty substantial.. it's also peculiar since MS requires all developers support a minimum of 1280x720 for approval without special permission. Do you have a source?
