DJ Hero may have assisted in the rise of sales of real DJ equipment

My household watched tutorial videos of DJ Q-Bert teaching us the crab scratch and watching videos of the and Invisibl Skratch Picklz battle it out with the the X-Men (who later changed their name to The X-Ecutioners due to a trademark infringement).  We owned a local DJ shop that sold vinyl, DJ CD's and DJ gear from hoodies, to Kangol hats, to ESDJCO t-shirts, you name it.  Plus we listened to many DJ's, including of course DJ Z-Trip and Shadow.

It seems like DJ Hero is what is now sparking an interest in DJing and is helping to sell more DJ equipment in the United States.

While speaking with CVG, Creative Director for DJ Hero 2, Jamie Jackson spoke on a circulating rumor that DJ equipment sales have been on the rise since stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart has placed DJ Hero in the same department.

I can't confirm it, but someone's told me the same thing about DJ equipment - that they've seen sales in The States at Best Buy and Wal-Mart increase.  They had a strategy where the music games were situated near their music area. I thought it was quite a cool way of doing things, but I think it works differently for each market…One thing that I’ve learnt is that the American market is vastly different to the UK and European market

I don't think this should even be considered a rumor, but more of a statistical fact.  Throw any kind of fun tutorial in the mix and more people want to learn.  DJ Hero teaches you the basic feeling of scratching and although it does not feel like a real turntable, it helps you get your feet wet and want to try the real thing.

Right now when you pre-order DJ Hero 2 from GameStop, they are throwing in a sweet PUMA turntable controller bag, that can also just be used as a messenger bag, even better!
