The seven Koopalings as they appear in Super Mario Bros. 3
Two videos posted on YouTube have confirmed the return of the seven Koopa Kids in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game.
You might remember the seven offspring of Bowser from their debut appearance in Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo and also from their later appearance in Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo.
In Super Mario Bros. 3 each Koopa Kid stole a magic wand from the king of each world and transformed him into some kind of animal. It was Mario and Luigi’s job to defeat all of the Koopa Kids and return the magic wands to their rightful owners so that peace and order would return to the Mushroom Kingdom.
In New Super Mario Bros. Wii the Koopa Kids will be equipped with their old, trusty magic wands again as they wait at the end of each castle and attempt to stop Mario, Luigi, and the two toads from rescuing Princess Peach.
