Ubisoft surprised everyone this morning by announcing a new addition to Apple's iPhone App catalog, Assassin's Creed II multiplayer game. The game, which only just been teased by Ubisoft earlier last month, released at Midnight. The bigger news? For the first 48 hours, it will be free to anyone with an iPhone or iPod Touch to download.
The game takes place in the same Renaissance Italy setting as the console Assassin's Creed II game does, adopting a top-down style of play. The game puts you in the role of an unnamed Assassin, instead of the console's protagonist Ezio, who must take out other rival assassins (other online players) through various attacks and items, while remaining anonymous via crowds and hiding spots.
The game will remain free until the 3rd at Midnight, before reverting back to its standard price of $2.99
