Here is the distressing news about third-hand smoke carcinogens,
New research has levied strike three against smoking. . With first, second or third- hand smoke chemical reactions occur that damage living human cells. Not in this research but it is possible those reactions harm pets and plants as well.
Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) published results of a recent study showing that the vapors and residues from tobacco smoke clings to all surrounding spaces wherever smoking takes place. Sequestering smokers outdoors or in special smoking areas, per PNAS does not diminish harm to others from third hand smoke.
Nicotine vapors react with nitrous acid, a common substance on surfaces in human environments forming" carcinogenic tobacco-related nitrosamines" or for short TNSAs that linger on surfaces a very long time.
VA Community Based Cliniics offer a program for health and freedom from smoking.
