Loving your body the Loving Hut way

Loving Hut has arrived at Orlando and is here to help you “be veg, go green, save the planet”, as their slogan claims; and with over 20 restaurant locations throughout the west coast and Asia, there is no doubt that this fast growing vegetarian food chain is committed to  help you do just that.

They are located right off Colonial and Bumby, in a cute little building that might have passed as a house if it wasn’t located in such a commercial area. The interior is a simple with a very clean modern look. When it comes to their food, they offer just what they claim, a delicious plant based menu with options for those who are not in the mood for Asian cuisine. In addition to spring rolls and Asian soups, they offer American classics such as a vegan version of the corn dog, marketed as the “happy dog”. The food steers you away from the monotony of fast food restaurants and takes you into vegetarian paradise that won’t crash your diet. As if the appetizer and main entry menus weren’t enough to awake your senses, they offer a wide selection of exotic drinks such as the pickle lime and the coconut delight among many others.

Yet, it is the concept behind this food chain that truly makes it a hit in my list. Unlike thousands of restaurants, which target and profit from consumers trying to get the most out of their dollar with little thought put into the quality of the food, Loving Hut embraces the concept of peace among nature and human beings. It offers an opportunity for a smooth transition into a vegetarian or vegan diet by promoting environmentally friendly and healthy dishes.  Simultaneously, Loving Hut helps plant a seed of change toward the environmental issues we are living through today by addressing the importance of taking care of our natural resources. Concerned with their environmental impact, they also offer to go containers which have been made from recycled material. Dining at a place that emphasizes the importance of an eco-friendly diet really encourages eaters to continue their efforts from the privacy of their home by following a vegetarian diet.

While many criticize the organization that has founded Loving Hut as an alleged cult run by leader Ching Hai's who promotes a meditation method called Quan Yin, the fact is that whether or not one chooses to follow the teachings of Ching Hai, the diet that Loving Hut promotes is beneficial to earth and humans alike.

If you are looking to grab a quick bite in a place that will be friendly to your wallet, your diet, and the environment, then head out to 2101 E Colonial Dr Orlando, FL 32803-4834 - (407) 894-5673.

If you are a bit skeptical on the whole concept of a vegetarian menu, then see for yourself, and rest assure that you will be lured straight into Loving Hut after catching a glimpse of its vivid and colorful cuisine.

I ate at the Loving Hut in Palo Alto, CA recently and was hooked. It's a great deal for great-tasting, organic, vegan food. I'm glad to see them expanding even further.

The Loving Hut is fantastic! I've eaten there several times, and they have it all--everything from meaty fried seitan dishes to incredibly tasty fresh salads/noodle dishes.

Thanks for an informative and well-written article, Marysol. I like your view on "the concept behind this food chain that truly makes it a hit." Peace and kindness. "Can't we all get along?" Getting along with animals and sowing good seeds of compassion. It's good for our bank account, karmic and otherwise. Now, really, it's high time to stop cruelty toward intelligent and sentient animals. Let us stop being bullies and "be veg." Besides, it's delicious to be one. I've eaten at Loving Hut in Palo Alto, Milpitas and Alhambra: all fabulous! Looking forward to Orlando one of these days. It sounds fantastic! By the way, global warming is a real and present danger. (Watch former US Vice President Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth.") Let's have a meat-free/brutality-free paradise, and we all can enjoy and live together in harmony. Wouldn't that be nice?!

I had vegan curry at the Loving Hut in San Jose (in a mall, clean and modern looking). It was great.
