Anna Ferguson (World Peace Yoga)
Vegans, yogis, animal lovers, and environmentalists will come together this October to spread a message of World Peace. October 23 thru 25 Loveland, Ohio will be the site of the World Peace Yoga Conference. A weekend dedicated to promoting love and compassion for all beings as a means to World Peace. While the name of the conference indicates that it might be just another yoga conference, don't be fooled. There will be yoga, taught by some of the West's most inspiring teachers. David Life, Sharon Gannon, and Doug Swenson just to name a few. What's different about this conference is that yogic values will be considered as the foundation of the conference, with a large emphasis on ahimsa and veganism.
In addition to the yoga, there will also be vegan cooks and advocates, environmentalists, and many more with a message of World Peace. In fact, a large focus of this conference is cultivating World Peace through our diet. “The World's first all vegan yoga conference!” exclaims Sharon Gannon, co-founder of Jivamukti Yoga, and avid vegan activist. Dr. Will Tuttle, author of the World Peace Diet has said about the World Peace Yoga Conference, “A magical, powerful event is on the horizon in Cincinnati! I am grateful to the organizers of The World Peace Yoga Conference. We live in critical times. A new world is waking. We know in our bones that the old stories aren't working, and now, finally, we have a gathering of the leading pioneers in the yoga, spirituality, and food movements coming together to light the path to a beautiful future. This conference will be a time of growing and celebrating, of learning and connecting, and of making the new world of peace, justice, and harmony not just possible, but inevitable. Please join us! You can be part of this vital effort at this crucial time! Your future is beckoning!”
Presenters will be speaking about veganism as a diet of peace. Topics will include “Being a Joyful Vegan in a Non-Vegan World”by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, “The World Peace Diet” by Will and Madeline Tuttle, “Thanking the Monkey: Rethinking the way we treat animals” by Karen Dawn and many more.
The World Peace Yoga Conference was organized by Anna Ferguson and Mark Stroud, who also co-created the World Peace Yoga and Motion Studio and the World Peace Jubilee vegan restaurant in Cincinnati. The pair affectionately refer to the studio and the restaurant as the “World Peace Spiritual Urban Village”.
Anna was inspired to organize the World Peace Yoga Conference after traveling the country taking classes from many respected teachers. All of whom spoke of ahimsa and the yogic values of peace and compassion for all beings in their classes, but did not reflect their teachings when they sat down to eat. “It's one thing to say the "right" words and it's another to actually practice it. This conference was inspired by the teachers out there that live the practice of love for all beings, not just talk about it. I'm honored to have these amazing people at the World Peace Yoga Conference”, says Anna.
Anna has been a yoga instructor and vegan educator for nearly 10 years, and has always believed that World Peace is possible and that veganism plays an integral role in achieving World Peace. After reading the book “The World Peace Diet” by Will Tuttle she was inspired to continue educating people about veganism, and to in fact, do more than she already was.
Anna would like to acknowledge three outstanding peace activists, who she expresses great gratitude for. “Three great examples of peace activists that inspire me on a regular basis are Sharon Gannon, David Life and Will Tuttle. I am so grateful for their dedicated action to stop the suffering of ALL beings and the earth.”
