David Price and the Rays swept the Red Sox this week.
Don't look now, but the Tampa Bay Rays are starting to prove the experts wrong who think that the race for the AL East crown is just between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.
Former Vanderbilt standout and first overall pick David Price picked up the win on Wednesday night, helping the Rays complete the two-game sweep of the Sox 6-4.
Price's victory moved him over the .500 mark on the season at 5-4, and he improved to 5-1 on the season at Tropicana Field.
The lefty went six innings and allowed just two runs and both of those were on solo home runs.
Price lowered his E.R.A. to 4.91 with the victory as the defending American League Champs improved to 60-48 with the victory and within three games of the Red Sox for the final playoff spot.
