Corey Haim, star of The Lost Boys, Dream a Little Dream and Lucas died earlier this week at the age of 38. Haim battled drug addiction most of his life, his mother suffers from cancer and now more sad news has been revealed- Haim's family is broke.

Haim's mother wants to bring his body back to Canada for burial and worries that the funeral expenses will be too much to afford. The funeral is expected to be in Toronto next week.

They have asked for fans to contribute in two ways:

  • Send donations to the memorial fund
  • Purchase his personal items on Ebay

It's sad to think that a star of the 80's dies with no money or savings. Haim contributed to so many lives of the 80's generation of kids. Let's hope that fans can return the favor.

Lexington readers can donate to the Corey Haim Memorial Fund by sending donations to The Corey Haim Memorial Fund -PO Box 87655 298 John St, Thornhill, Ontario L3T-7R4

Lexington readers- how do you feel about this situation?

Do you think the fans will raise enough money to help with the funeral?

I LOVED Corey Haim in the 80's. His family will be in my prayers. He will be greatly missed!

That's sad, I really don't have money to send to every celebrity who gets in trouble. Gary Coleman is broke too and in bad health. Why doesn't the film/television industry help these people? I would send a few dollars if I knew for sure that some lawyer would be taking a cut. Damn lawyers know how to suck blood out of a stone. I spent a few hundred on M.J.'s music, dvds, etc. after he passed cause I love his work and partly because I knew he died with major cash flow problems. The economy is bad and I really can't afford it any more. I would love to help out Gary Coleman, I feel sorry for him. Maybe your paper could do a story on him and provide his address to send a donation. I heard he had a bad seizure and is on dialysis.
