Vampire Diaries' Paul Wesley talks Twilight in Teen Vogue

Teen Vogue, November 2009

The November issue of Teen Vogue has a quick feature on Paul Wesley. The interview talks about Paul's never owning a television, some of his previous acting work, and the fact that he didn't attend his own high school prom.

When it came to preparing for the role of Stefan, Paul was all business.

"The minute I was cast, I plowed through all the books."

Before shooting the pilot, Paul tried to avoid all things Twilight. He wanted to be sure he wasn't influenced by it. While he did succeed in staying away from the books and the movie, there was an unexpected connection to Twilight that was unavoidable....the cast.

While Vampire Diaries now films in the Atlanta, Georgia area, the pilot was shot in Vancouver. For those not familiar with the Twilight Saga, the second installment, New Moon, was also filmed in Vancouver.

"The cast was staying at our hotel - we saw them everywhere and hung out all the time. They're actually really nice people."

What does Paul think of all the comparisons between Vampire Diaries and Twilight?

"They have vampires and high school romance in common, but that's about it."
