UTSA Men suffer another tennis loss

UTSA Men's Tennis has suffered their second loss of the season as they fell to Wichita State 5-2 on Friday afternoon in Kansas.

The first contest of the day went to Wichita State as they won the first doubles rubber, with David Cavalcanti and Matheus Pereira defeating Martin Ayala and Tyler Brown 8-6.

But it was UTSA who won the doubles point as Yannick Junger and Kolby Kilgo managed an 8-5 win which was matched by Joel Rubio and Daniel Moser to give UTSA the first points of the tie and have them somewhat confident of a good result.

Despite the early advantage Wichita State took the tie comfortably as they won the first four singles rubbers giving them an unassailable 4-1 lead ahead of the final two singles rubbers.

All four wins came in straight sets with Yannick Junger going the closest to pulling a set back, pushing National #66 Matheus Pereira all the way in the second going down 6-2, 7-5.

Rubio put some respectability back in to the score managing UTSA's only singles win of the tie, as he defeated Juan Estenssoro in a match that went the distance winning 6-2, 3-6 10-8.

That brief bright spot was erased as Wichita State won the final singles match as Kester Black defeated Oliver Breininger in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 for a final score of 5-2.

The Roadrunners will have to regroup quickly as they take on undefeated Air Force at 1pm on Saturday.
