Soma Vainuku, the top high school fullback recruit, is the newest member of USC's stellar 2010 recruiting class.
Vainuku, cousin of former Trojan and current Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga, was recruited by many schools as a linebacker, but signed on as a fullback with USC.
A four-star recruit from Eureka, California, Vainuku joins an already loaded 2010 recruiting class for USC that now stands at nineteen strong.
“Extremely athletic for his size, [Vainuku] can really move and is similar to USC back Stanley Havili,” according to a Scout.com profile. “[Vainuku] Can play linebacker too and probably projects best there in college but showed this year he can be a playmaking fullback.”
The biggest question remaining for the Trojans is what will happen with offensive tackle, Seantrel Henderson.
Henderson, the top offensive tackle coming out of high school, verbally committed to USC yesterday afternoon, but has decided to hold off on signing his letter of intent until the Trojans go before the NCAA infractions committee.
USC will go before the committee on February 19th because of former USC tailback Reggie Bush, who is accused of receiving improper benefits while at Southern California.
Without the talented offensive tackle, the Trojans' 2010 recruiting class is still incredibly strong; however, the addition of Henderson would make it that much sweeter.
