For the Trojans, no one came up bigger in the game against the Sun Devils than safety Will Harris.
Harris snagged two interceptions against Arizona State, returning the first one 55 yards in the second quarter to give Southern California a 7-3 lead going into halftime.
Harris' play, combined with a solid all-around effort by the Trojans' defense, is one of the main reasons that Southern California was able to escape Tempe with the victory.
With the meager production of the offense (a scenario that is all too common for most of the games this season, the defense stepped up when defense was needed the most.
Along with his two interceptions on the day, Harris finished with five tackles and one pass broken up earning him this week's Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The other two Pac-10 Players of the Week were Stanford's tailback Toby Gerhart, who earned the offensive award after piling up yards against Oregon, as well as Cardinal kicker Nate Whitaker who earned the special teams’ award.
The Trojans face Gerhart and the Cardinal this coming Saturday at home.
