With the 9th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft the Toronto Raptors select none other than USC Trojan guard, DeMar DeRozan.
DeRozan joins a Raptors team that already includes star power-forward Chris Bosh, center Andrea Bargnani, and play making point-guard Jose Calderon.
The drafting of DeRozan brings into question the status of Shawn Marion, for whom the Raptors traded forward-center Jermaine O'Neal this past season. With DeRozan, Toronto gets an athletic wing player that can handle either the small-forward or the off-guard position. The acquisition of DeRozan could mark the end of Marion's tenure with the Raptors.
For the 2008-2009 season, DeRozan put up a solid stat line of 13.6 ppg and 5.7 rpg, while shooting 52.5 percent from the field earning him All-Pac-10 Freshman honors.
