    As I watched this talented and amazing teacher, I couldn't help but think that he could never survive in an American school. He would be fired and probably sued for touching the children, and that's only the beginning. Forcing them to take personal responsibility would never be allowed.

    I agree with you totally. The entire school system here should be shaken from top to bottom!!! Have you seen To Be and To Have, one precious documentary of the stupendous teacher, Georges Lopez,in rural France, in a one-room school! This film was made during the last year of a 30-year career teaching, before he retired. I got it from Netflix, watched it instantly. Cheers!
