The funeral for Shaniya Davis was held today at 3:00 p.m. You can watch the replay of the service here:
The funeral was attended by many who didn’t know Shaniya and was streamed live across the Internet. Held at the Manna Church, located at 5117 Cliffdale Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the funeral was attended by many who came to say good-bye to the five year old girl who touched the nation with her life.
Shaniya’s Aunt Carey read a poem that she had written titled My Life with Shaniya. The poem recounted her moments spent with Shaniya throughout her first five years of life. Shaniya’s Aunt Carey had served as a mother figure to Shaniya and had taught Shaniya her ABC’s, how to tie her shoes, and other tasks. Carey Lockhart-Davis’ grief was evident as she continued to regain her composure while reciting the poem for the girl whom she evidently loved tremendously.
Bradley Lockhart spoke and addressed those in attendance regarding taking the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to those in the community. He stated that there are people who don’t know how to change and need the help of others. He hoped that the outreach would prevent other tragedies such as Shaniya’s from occurring.
Not everyone could speak today, however. Shaniya’s brother stood to speak but was overcome by grief and had to be seated. The pastor spoke from the second book of Corinthians and discussed how we are spirits passing through earth for a brief time. He discussed how to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and how one day, Shaniya will be reunited with her family and loved ones.
The funeral was scheduled and planned to be a homecoming celebration, one that welcomes Shaniya Davis into her Heavenly Father’s arms where she would feel no more sorrow or pain.

i cant even amagine how much pain and suffering she was in during the accident....kids are being kidnapped,murdered and in sexual slavery and we need to do something to stop that well at least she get to reat in peace and dont have to suffer.

This beautiful child was taken from this world too soon. I have a little girl in kindergarten and I could not imagine the pain the pain that her family is going through. I would go to extreme measures to protect my children as any parent should. This world has become such a horrible place that a precious little girl was taken way before her time. My heart goes out to her family.

HER HEART WILL KNOW NO MORE PAIN AND SORROW FOR HER LIFE IS BEING SPENT WITH GOD. SHE HAD THE BEST PARENTS(AUNTS AND OTHER FAMILY THAT TOOK CARE OF HER). GOD HAS A REASON FOR THIS HAPPENING LET HIM SHOW YOU WHAT BLESSING WILL COME FROM THIS. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY THOSE OF US WHOM NEVER EVEN GOT THE CHANCE TO BE BLESSED BY HER PRESENCE. SHANIYA DAVIS I HOPE THAT I CAN MEET YOU ONE DAY AND SEE YOUR SMILE IN PERSON. I WILL PRAY FOR THAT FAMILY.

She was such an pretty girl... I can't imagine how an mother would sale her gorgeous daughter for sex... Now that she is in Heaven she want have to bein no pain and she will be in a better place... I don't see how men do such things to litle girls like Shaniya Davis.... It was not her fault that she was put in that situation the person that put her in this situation an took her life away should be put in the pen. for life,so that they can see what they did to such an pretty little girl like her.... If I was in a sitiuation like that with my family member no one would be able to stop me doing what I had to do..... Her mama and the person that took her away from her family should be paid for what they done to such an cute girl....

Thank God there is a Heaven, where there are no more tears and no more suffering. Shaniya is now there, sitting on the lap of Jesus. I cannot imagine what she went through or what her family is going through. God bless Bradley and Carey as well as the rest of Shaniya's family as they struggle to make sense of all this. May justice be served on the perpetrators. There will be no peace for them!

wow thats so sad how could a mother do that to her child and i cant imagine all the pain she was going threw when she was raped then killed ohhmygossh she was such a preety girl . and i wish her the best and the family curse the rapist in this world
this beautiful young girl was ripped away from her loving father and whanau. i watched this video and i was so sad and the tears streaming down my face. this girl earned her angel wings and now in the company of jesus. rest in peace little one
