Shaniya Davis will be laid to rest today at 3:00 p.m. Her funeral is open to the public and will be streamed live. You can view the funeral online at 3:00 p.m. ET, and pay your respects to Shaniya Davis and her family. The heart-wrenching story of little Shaniya Davis has touched the nation and evoked a plethora of emotions, ranging from utter sorrow and grief to anger in all who've heard of her fateful and tragic end.
Authorities have accused Shaniya Davis’ mother, Antoinette Davis of selling Shaniya into sexual servitude and she faces charges of human trafficking, child abuse involving prostitution, and filing a false police report. It has been alleged that Antoinette Davis willingly gave five-year-old Shaniya to her rapist and murderer, Mario McNeill.
Mario McNeill was seen carrying Shaniya Davis into a hotel room, and later confessed to kidnapping her. His car was searched and he was later charged with first-degree rape of a child and first-degree murder. Shaniya Davis’ body was found on November 16, 2009. She had been dumped in an overgrown wooded area adjacent to Highway 87 in Sanford, North Carolina. Her body was found approximately 7 miles from the Comfort Suites hotel where Mario McNeill had taken her.
It is still unclear whether murder charges will be filed against Shaniya Davis’ mother, Antoinette Davis. If it is proved that she sold and prostituted Shaniya and that those actions resulted in her murder, she may be charged with felony murder charges as it would be her actions that resulted in Shaniya’s death.
The funeral for Shaniya Davis will be attended by man of her family members, but it is very likely that many who never met Shaniya will come to say their final good-byes. Shaniya Davis was a beautiful child who suffered an unimaginable and despicable fate. Our hearts and prayers are extended to Shaniya Davis’ family and we mourn with them in the loss of this precious and beautiful angel who left this world far too soon.

Why the hell have you got pictures of Shaniya with that monster McNeill in the "remembering Shaniya" photo box. Have some respect for goodness sake. Let people remember Shaniya today, at her funeral, as a beautiful charming girl who will be sorely missed and always deeply loved.
I don't expect Shaniya's mother to get the sentence she so deserves simply because she is 2 months pregnant. Also, in the past our legal system has failed to do what is right with these sick criminals. The book should be thrown at Shaniya's mother and her killer McNeill. She trusted them both and they did the ultimate and raped her and then took her life and tossed her out like a bag of smelly garbage. God is with you now Shaniya!!!

This is not Shaniya's funeral!!! This is the vigil. Why are you telling people it's the actual funeral online when it's not?

Please take those pics of that "thing" carrying that baby. We want to remember Shaniya smiling, and not with that beast. It saddens me to see those pics of her with that monster. Rest in Peace Baby Shaniya. God has your back now!

I removed the photos, but did not mean any disrespect. They are the last photos taken of Shaniya alive, and to me they are important, though I understand your point, so I removed them. I am putting up a slideshow from the funeral now.
The link did take you to the live stream of the funeral, not the vigil. I'm not sure why you would have been taken to the vigil instead.

I love that close up picture of her with the trees in the background, what an absolute princess. What a very sad day today has been, two weeks ago Shaniya was a happy go lucky little girl: today she rests in the ground.

Charisse thanks for ridding those photos. Though I did not know Shaniya, I feel the pain too and have cried alot as if I really knew her. Her story really and truly touched my heart as I see it touched yours and millions of others.
One of the things that grieves me the most is that the mother didn't have to ask for her to come. She should have just left her alone- I agree that her father loved her, and her Aunt. There was no reason in the world for that woman, to have her come stay with her. The same is true for Casey Anthony- if she didn't want Caylee- she should have left her with her parents and taken off-

She is just as guilty and needs to be charged with murder

My heart hurts for this little girl. It is a shame that we have people in our world who would do such bad things to such young and innocent children. I hope her father can make it through this terrible ordeal. Karma is going to fall hard on her mother, and I hope she remembers what she did to her own fleash and bolld. I wanna see her go through what she put that beautiful little girl through, the same with the boyfriend.. Shsniya, go fly. and don't forget that you were loved, by many. R.I.P
I went to the funeral today and it was a very nice homegoing service, also very sad. I didnt even know Shaniya but i was very touched at the funeral and i creid for her. May God bless her family and her soul and may she rest in peace

God bless the family. Not long ago my friend went through a similar situation. Without prayer I don't think she would have made it through. Although Shaniya is not anyone's child but God's, it felt like I lost one of my own. The world has lost one of it's own. To the family, you are in my prayers. And to anyone involved in her death, may God have mercy on your soul.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May He give you strength in your time of weakness, joy in your time of sorrow and strength for your tomorrow. For the Lord is Our strong tower. He will wite all tears from eyes and sadness from your heart. Be strong and encouraged cause God's get your back so look forward to a bright day.

she was so young ment no harm to no one so loving, a man like that takes a childs life something must be really wrong whats going through hes head who cares about that, my love goes out to Shaniya's family and friends a Precious little girl theres no words to explain this i feel you pain having someone that you truely love taking away but heres some words of incourgement keep your head up one day you'll meet again. rest in peace Shaniya you are never forgotten but always remembered we love you Shaniya.
