Unexplained phenomenon Google UFO logo: Star Trek anniversary?

Commentary

Jumping on the Google ‘unexplained phenomenon’ bandwagon, I’ve decided to investigate the choice of Google selecting a UFO for their Google doodle, or Google logo. Theories have surfaced across the Internet and many people have taken to Twitter and Facebook to air their guess as to why Google has selected a UFO or unexplained phenomenon to display upon their website this weekend. I have proposed my own guess as to why Google is featuring the UFO in their logo, and I think it might be due to Star Trek’s 43rd anniversary.

It was 43 years ago on September 8, 1966 that the original series of Star Trek aired on NBC. Could this be the reason for the UFO beaming up the letter ‘O’ in Google’s logo? The series has enjoyed an enormous cult following and has branched into a wide array of movies and other television series. Since the country is undergoing a 9.7% unemployment rate, it seems a wise choice to celebrate the anniversary of Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock rather than draw emphasis to the countless unemployed and underemployed workers in America.

Since the Google UFO logo depicts the beam, it seems that the doodle is showing Star Trek and depicting its infamous line, “Beam me up, Scotty.” Though Star Trek was a cult classic, the show only aired for three seasons, its final episode aired on June 3, 1969. Since Star Trek has evolved into numerous other film projects, the original series is often referred to as Star Trek: The Original Series, Classic Star Trek, and Star Trek: TOS.

In addition to the original series, other film and television projects include Star Trek: The Animated Series which aired from 1973-1974, Star Trek: The Next Generation which aired from 1987-1994, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine which aired from 1993-1999, Star Trek: Voyager which aired from 1995-2001, and Star Trek: Enterprise which aired from 2001-2005. Is Google’s logo the product of unexplained phenomenon and focusing on alien life in general? Maybe not, my bet is on Star Trek.

    google twittered (twitter.com/google):

    1.12.12 25.15.21.18 15 1.18.5 2.5.12.15.14.7 20.15 21.19

this means: "all your O are belong to us" (1=a, 2=b etc.)

so you might know the phrase: "All your base are belong to us"

    Wekipedia:"
"All your base are belong to us" is a broken English phrase that was central to an Internet phenomenon, or meme, in 2000-2002, with the spread of a Flash animation that depicted the slogan. The text is taken from the opening cut scene of the 1991 European Sega Mega Drive version of the Japanese video game Zero Wing,[1] by Toaplan which was poorly translated by Sega of Europe. It was popularized by the Something Awful message forums."

this way I think the "unexoplained phenomenon" means the "Internet phenomenon"

Google probably wanted to confuse us. I'm not saying I totally doubt the idea of an alien founding, I'm just saying its not very likely and people are just jumping to conclusions. They probably did just want to make a laugh out of us or just experiment to see if people actually care what they talk about and the different pictures and probably just to see if they should even bother to do it. Eventually if this was the case, those people who make it still have to continue because there are so many websites about this. They probably planned all this to happen, for us to be confused and try to find reasons why it would be called "universal phenomenon". I'm pretty sure some guy figured out that everyone was so interested in this and decided to make a website about the finding and made them pay $11.11 when it probably states something that he thinks is true or probably just isn't even true. Eventually if people were actually gullible enough to pay it this guy would have made a fortune. If it

    Star Trek?!

Why would they then just use the Enterprise logo... or the Enterprise ship itself??

In my opinion, it is obviously something directly to do with UFOs.

Na nothing to do with Trek. On it's 50th I'll expect the OO in GOOGLE to be spaced out and outfitted as the warp nacelles on the original series Enterprise with the rest of the old girl below.

If the doodle was early September 2009, it may mean the 30th year Star Trek began syndication, leaving (being abducted from) prime time network TV to the frontier of syndicaation and its rebirth.
