Toyota recall: Toyota suspends sales of 8 models (photos, videos)

Toyota recall: Toyota suspends sales of 8 models (photos, videos)

Toyota is suspending the sale of 8 models due to gas pedals that stick. The announcement comes just one week after Toyota announced that 2.3 million vehicles would be recalled. Now, 57% of Toyota’s auto sales have been affected, and dealerships nationwide are being told to halt sales on the vehicles. The models affected include the following vehicles.

2009-2010 RAV4
2009-2010 Corolla
2009-2010 Matrix
2005-2010 Avalon
Certain 2007-2010 Camry
2010 Highlander
2007-2010 Tundra
2008-2010 Sequoia

The recall is so widespread that several Toyota plants have been ordered to close shop. The affected Toyota plants that will close include one in Indiana and several in the United States and Canada. In fact, since the models will cease to be sold, this move by Toyota goes beyond your typical recall. It isn’t a case of getting something to fix a vehicle, such as a replacement or repair kit. The cars will no longer be sold. The move is unprecedented and financial analysts quote the move as costing approximately $100 million dollars.

Toyota released a statement regarding the recall and plant closures. “Helping ensure the safety of our customers and restoring confidence in Toyota are very important to our company. This action is necessary until a remedy is finalized."

The 8 models that are involved in the recall account for more than half of Toyota’s sales.  If you are driving one of the recalled vehicles and the gas pedal sticks, pull over immediately and contact your Toyota dealer.

Had Problems with my 1 month old Toyota Corolla 2009. Steering world turn by itself above 55 mph.

Toyota couldn't fix my problem (but they would sell me a new one and they called my car now used. My only option was to trade it in and take a loss. I wished this recall happened sooner. I hope the person looked on my carfax to read my problems of my car.
