According to recent reports, Tiger Woods wife, Elin Nordegren, is consulting with high-powered, celebrity divorce attorney Sorrell Trope.
The New York Daily News writes that Trope has been assisting celebrities end their marriages since 1949 and has worked with stars such as Nicolas Cage, Hugh Grant, Rod Steiger, Cary Grant, and Britney Spears.
Alexandra Leichter, a family law arbitrator out of Beverly Hills, told the Daily News, “He’s in a class of maybe 12 or 15 lawyers that handles very high-asset, high-income divorces with contentious custody cases.”
A divorce between Woods, 33, and his wife comes as no surprise after the bevy of women that have been named or have come forward as alleged mistresses of the amorous golfer.
Last week the Daily News reported that Elin was taking the couple’s two young children to Sweden for Christmas, and that Woods would not be traveling with them. In addition, she was seen out and about last week without her wedding ring.
The report notes that Elin, 29, reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement before she married the billionaire golfer and Trope would most likely assist her in obtaining more money than originally agreed upon from Woods in the divorce settlement.
