Slideshow: Rielle Hunter on loving John Edwards (photos, videos)
Rielle Hunter is speaking and isn’t holding back her feelings for John Edwards. Rielle Hunter has been the subject of a four year affair with John ‘Johnny’ Edwards that resulted in sex, lies, a videotape, and a very public announcement of paternity. Rielle spoke with GQ in an interview titled, Hello, America, My Name is Rielle Hunter. The interview is full of Rielle’s feelings towards Johnny and she isn’t afraid to publicly admit her love for him, nor his for her.
What might be the most surprising to read in the interview is Rielle’s take on the events that have transpired, and many believe, have permanently ruined Edwards political career. As many view John Edwards as lying repeatedly to the media, the public, his cancer-stricken wife, denying the paternity of his love child, Rielle views these actions as positive steps that have helped John Edwards become a better and more fully integrated human.
Rielle speaks about an instant attraction that she felt for John and to read her words, it could only be characterized as love at first sight (though she denies that and referred to it as ‘magnetism’). She thought he was ‘hot’ and on a second meeting, she told him exactly how she felt. She also admits that she wanted to help him explore the deeper truths of his personality and to stop hiding behind his political façade.
John Edwards and his wife have separated and according to the National Enquirer (who has an amazing track record regarding the John Edwards sex scandal); the two will marry after his divorce.
When asked if she could see herself living happily ever after with Johnny, Rielle stated, “I have no idea. I do know that I will love him and that love is till death do us part, and probably beyond. We have a child together, so at the very least we will be co-parents together.” She also stated that she hasn’t been involved with any other men since meeting John Edwards.
