America has crowned a new Miss America, Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron. The ceremony was held on Saturday night, January 30, 2010 in Las Vegas. Miss America 2010, Caressa Cameron , who is a broadcast journalism major, sang ‘Listen’ the song performed by Beyonce in Dream Girls. The Miss America pageant was broadcast on TLC and was hosted by Mario Lopez and Clinton Kelly.
The panel of judges was varied and included Rush Limbaugh, Vivica Fox, Dave Koz, Shawn Johnson, Brooke White (from American Idol), and Miss America 2002, Katie Harman. In addition to a $50,000 scholarship, Caressa Cameron also won $2,000 earlier this week for winning a talent contest.
There were 53 contestants at the start of tonight’s Miss America pageant. During the pageant, Miss Virginia spoke about childhood obesity. When asked during the interview portion of the pageant to comment regarding childhood obesity, Caressa answered, “"We need to get our kids back outside, playing with sticks in the street like I did when I was little. Expand your mind, go outside and get to see what this world is like."
The 53 contestants include one woman from each state as well as the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

We have to have a black Miss America to go along with a black President. Otherwise we are all evil racists, even if the President is a previously unemployed foreigner and Miss America has nose and lips like a simian.
