According to news reports by KTLA, television actor and teen idol Corey Haim has died at the age of 38. Law enforcement with the Los Angeles Police Department have stated that the cause of death appears to be an accidental drug overdose. Cheryl MacWillie, who serves as the Coroner’s Lieutenant said that an autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.

Corey Haim was home with his mother at the Oakwood Apartment Complex, and according to reports, Corey got out of bed shortly before 1:00 a.m. and collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911 and Corey was transferred to the Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.

TMZ reports that there were several prescription bottles present in the home, but no illegal drugs were found. Corey Haim was said to have been fighting flu like symptoms and was using a combination of over-the-counter and prescription medications to treat them. Corey Haim had spoke publicly about his battle with drugs such as crack cocaine and later admitted he had abused prescription drugs.

Some of Corey’s acting credits that led to his fame include The Lost Boys, Lucas, and License to Drive. Corey Haim had sought to revitalize his acting career and had starred in a reality television show for the A&E Network titled The Two Coreys from 2007 until 2008. The show featured another 80’ teen star, Corey Feldman.
