Breaking news! The Shaniya Davis cause of death is asphyxiation and the autopsy revealed that the little five year old girl was raped. Mario Andrette McNeill has been charged with rape and first degree murder in addition to first degree kidnapping charges. A live press conference was held tonight at 8:00 p.m. and the additional charges were made public. (click here to view a slideshow from the Shaniya Davis case)
Reports state that Mario McNeill has remained in isolation since he surrendered to authorities on November 13, 2009, after being seen carrying Shaniya Davis in his arms in a hotel. Police say they do not believe that Shaniya Davis was killed inside the hotel.
In addition to Mario McNeil, Shaniya Davis’ mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, faces charges of filing a police report, human trafficking, and child abuse involving prostitution. More details regarding Antoinette Davis’ role in Shaniya’s death have not yet been made public. It is possible that she may also face additional charges as the investigation goes forward. Antoinette Davis was arrested on November 14, 2009, the day following the arrest of Mario McNeill. Antoinette Davis reported Shaniya missing during the early morning hours of November 10, 2 009. Her body was found on November 16, 2009 in a forested area off of Highway 87 in Sanford, North Carolina.
The delay in additional charges was due to jurisdiction issues between Cumberland County and Lee County. Cumberland County is the county of Shaniya’s last known residence and Lee County is where her body was found. The case is being prosecuted through Cumberland County.
In the past several days, suspicion has arisen that Antoinette Davis gave her daughter to Mario McNeill as a way to pay off unresolved drug debts. Those allegations were not addressed during tonight’s press conference, though it has been stated that authorities continue to follow up on those suspicions and that they are part of the investigation.
A prayer vigil is planned for residents of the Sleepy Hollow Mobile Home Park where Shaniya Davis was staying with her biological mother, Antoinette Davis.

There should be no mercy on Mario McNeill's soul nor Antoinette Davis because she knew what would happen to her little daughter when she made arrangements for him to take Shaniya. I am so angry and so sad and just hope that justice is done to these monsters called a mother and this McNeill sh--. No telling what all Shaniya had to endure before she was kidnapped either. God bless her soul.

This continues to haunt me! It saddens me and angers me that a 'mother' would allow her baby to be harmed in any way!! This women deserves no mercy;there should not be a law in the land to protect her or prevent her from being punished at the maximum sentences. For the person who made this a racial issue-think Jaycee Dugard, Caylee Anthony, John Benet Ramsey. The crimes being perpetuated against our babies sees no color/race! This has become a societal ill & will not stop until we STOP blaming issues on race, financial status,etc. There are 'secret clubs' of affluent white men here in America that are buying children-guess you missed the 20/20 feature.

It IS so sad. I just have to say I give so much credit to Bradley Lockhart. His faith in GOD is unwavering even in the midst of what is probably the most terrible pain imaginable for a parent. To have something so precious taken from you--and STILL praise our creator. Keep the faith Brother, you are a shining example for Christians and people of faith all over. God bless you and your family in your time of sorrow and never forget that like everything else, this too shall pass. Who and what are you talking about when you say "typical african american behavior?" Which african american(s), Antoinette, Shaniya, or Mario? What behavior(s), being addicted, selling a daughter, raping a child, strangling her and leaving her dead by the roadside, or being trusting and innocent? Also, who was raised in a bad environment--the mother or the daughter. Most reports suggest Shaniya had a very god home with her father and had been living with her mother for a short time.
It is clear you care about the lose of this child's life and the grave and immoral treatment that came to snuff it out. No one contends that these acts were anything but cruel and horrible. But what does race have to do with it!
So tell me if you're suggesting Shaniya suffered so because the two people who abused her were black. I don't get that!
