ESPN analyst and former Mets general manager, Steve Phillips, 46, was fired Sunday night by the sports network giant over his workplace affair with production assistant, Brooke Hundley, 22.
According to the New York Daily News, Phillips entered a rehabilitation center for sex addiction on Monday in an attempt to save his marriage.
The Daily News reports that Phillips’ agent, Steve Lefkowitz, said “This was planned in advance. It had nothing to do with him getting fired.”
Phillips’ wife, Marni, filed for divorce on Sept. 14 after revelations of his latest dalliance came to light.
In 1998, Phillips admitted to having a tryst with a Mets employee, according to the Daily News.
Lefkowitz noted, “Obviously, he has a problem and fell off the wagon… Even though she [Marni] filed for divorce, they’re trying to work it out. He’s trying to get better first.”
