President Obama on illegal immigrants, abortion, and honesty in the health care reform debate

President Obama: Keeping the health care reform debate honest

President Obama debunked health care myths once again during his Weekly Address. He reiterated many of the statements he’s made during his town hall speeches and other remarks regarding illegal immigrants getting health insurance under his new plan, as well as whether or not abortions would be funded with tax payer money. Drawing attention to death panels, he also discussed the topic that has caused great concern with many that the new health care reform plan would encourage euthanasia of senior citizens or those that society might find less than desirable. President Obama also clarified that health care reform does not mean a government takeover of health care. The President stated that his goal and focus is to provide choice and competition, and reduce out of pocket costs for health care across the country. The President also reminded Americans that thousands of citizens are losing health insurance coverage every day.

Stating that the health care reform debate was vigorous across the country, and rightly so, he also reminded Americans that the debate must remain honest. Choosing to debunk the myths of heath care reform, President Obama pointed out that false claims and misleading ads are spreading across the television as well as the Internet. Those false claims and myths also make their ways to health care town halls across the country. President Obama began by addressing the idea that illegal immigrants would receive free health care or health insurance under the health care reform plan. He reinforced that the proposal for illegal immigrants to receive health care has never been on the table. He called the idea a myth and phony claim.

When addressing the allegations that health care reform would mean that abortions would be mandated he reiterated that the current ban on using tax dollars to pay for abortions would not be lifted. Speaking about the proposed idea of ‘death panels’ the President stated that the idea was offensive to him and that the rumors and false myths were being used as tactics meant to divide the nation. The largest and most prevalent claim that has spread across the country and has led to allegations of socialism is that health care reform would mean government takeover of the health care system. President Obama stated, “I know that sounds scary to many folks. It sounds scary to me, too. But here’s the thing: it’s not true. I no sooner want government to get between you and your doctor than I want insurance companies to make arbitrary decisions about what medical care is best for you, as they do today. As I’ve said from the beginning, under the reform we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.”

So, debunking means if he says it, its true? I gues you believed everything Bush said too? Truth is NOT what comes out of the Presiden't mouth, but what is written in the bill. Try reading it for yourself, thinking for yourself and be a little less trusting of what people say.

Obama is lying on this issue.

Obama said "So everybody who is listening out there, when you start hearing that somehow this is all designed to provide health insurance to illegal immigrants, that is simply not true and has never been the case."

He is pulling a fast one on American citizens when he says "designed."

The House health care bill (HR 3200) says "no federal payment for undocumented aliens," and the US Senate wants only citizens, nationals and those residing lawfully in the US to be beneficiaries of federal health care programs.

But neither HR 3200, nor the Senate, have a provision for verifying citizenship status. In fact, Dean Heller's (R-Nev.) amendment (which would require verification of citizenship status) was rejected in committee on a party line vote with all Dems voting against it. The Senate also rejected a similiar amendment. These sneaky Democrat con artists know what they are up to. They are trying to backdoor Obamacare for illegal aliens.

Obama like all good politicians means well. For him to deny that illegal immigrants will be covered under his new health care plan, sounds reassuring to American tax payers.

However, how can this be possible in the case of emergency room situations? No doctor (that I've ever heard of) would refuse helping a patient if that patient can be prevented from dying, with emergency treatment such as blood transfusions, defibrillator use, emergency surgery etc.

Doesn't emergency treatment cost for the non insured, including illegal immigrants have to be factored in some portion of any national health care plan?

How can people with even a modiucum of intelligence not realize that Obama is lying when he says you can keep your plan and doctor, the govt. "option" won't force private insurers out of business, illegal aliens won't be convered, abortions won't be covered, the cost will be deficit neutral, single payer (govt. control) isn't the objective....and on and on. Obama is a souless, shameless LIAR. Wake up people!!!

What the Health Bill says makes NO difference, since Obama has said repeatedly that he wants to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. If he succeeds passing amnesty for all these lawbreaking illegal aliens against the will of the American people, then they will qualify for health benefits. The interesting part is that since they will have to pay for health insurance, they may prefer to continue going to ERs where they get free health care. One other point: right now we have one doctor for every 492 Americans. What happens if 47 million more people become eligible? The lines out side the clinics are going to be very, very long!

Obama is the car salesman that makes our skin crawl. Eevry word out of his mouth is a lie, more than Bush ever did. People are still gullible and naive and that is just typical uninformed Americans who want a fantasy life. They voted for this man to provide a fantasy to them, and they will be gravely disapppinted. Pity, Americans just never learn.

Obama promised to not raise taxes of any kind on individuals who make less than $200k, but he raised cigarette taxes by 62 cents a pack. There are 43 million smokers in the US and the vast majority of them make less than $200k. Whether Obama signs healthcare legislation or not, I'm certain he will raise taxes again, and it won’t be just the smokers he’ll target. Prepare yourselves for higher taxes on just about everything. FACT: Obama is a liar and a fraud.

Obama keeps getting a free pass on his "illegal aliens are not covered" lie.

Illegal aliens can be covered because democrats refuse to ask for "citizenship" when applying for health care.

Democrats recently defeated the Heller amendment in the House Bill that would have enforced a citizenship requirement for health care benefits.

Saying that illegal immigrants cannot benefit while at the same time blocking verification is akin to passing a law that sets the legal drinking age at 21 years and then preventing bars from checking a patron's identification.

The reason we have 12 - 20 million illegal aliens here is because they refused to enforce our immigration laws and now they are attempting to make it even worse.

Also, Obama keeps repeating over and over again the need to provide insurance to the 46 million uninsured even though he also admits that the 46 million number includes illegal aliens. One of the two is a lie, which is it Mr. President.

    Just more Obama lie

what im beginning to wonder about folks, is what nefarious plan is going on? Our Government, past & present, Republican & Democrat, have allowed the invasion of 20 to 40 million criminals and uneducated peons which is the largest invasion of any Nation, at any time, by any means & in direct violation of Article IV, Section IV of our Constitution.

This refusal to abide by our Constitution or enforce our Immigration Laws should be classified as Treason of the most foul kind, & as grounds for impeachment & trials for Treason!
Not only have they allowed the invasion, they force American tax payers to pay Billions on Billions of dollars to provide Welfare, Prison cells, Educate the invaders numerous children, and free medical care , at the same time the invading horde break numerous laws and massive document fraud, & are destroying ourschools, hospitals, communities, culture and standard of living while Robbing, Raping, Killing & Assaulting American Citizens! WAKE UP!
