THE FIRST FULL-LENGTH, IN-DEPTH ACCOUNT OF THE CAYLEE ANTHONY CASE

When news broke of three-year-old Caylee Anthony’s disappearance from her home in Florida in July 2008, there was a huge outpouring of sympathy across the nation. The search for Caylee made front-page headlines. But there was one huge question mark hanging over the case: the girl’s mother.

• Why did Casey Anthony wait one full month before reporting her daughter missing?
• Why were searches on chloroform and missing children found on her computer?
• Why did she go out partying with friends less than one week after Caylee disappeared?

As the investigation continued and suspicions mounted, Casey became the prime suspect. In October, based on new evidence against Casey—her erratic behavior and lies, her car that showed signs of human decomposition—a grand jury indicted the young single mother. Then, two months later, police found Caylee’s remains a quarter of a mile away from the Anthony home. Casey pled not guilty to charges of murder in the first degree, and she continues to protest her innocence. Did she or didn’t she kill Caylee? This is the story of one of the most shocking, confusing, and horrific crimes in modern American history.

I want to know how you can say the "True Story" when no one knows the true story. Did the writer interview the Anthony's? Does she really think she got the truth out of them. She should be ashamed of herself. I for one will not purchase this book and I feel for those that do. RIP Caylee.

I think this is disgusting, if I had an interest in Dianne Fanning as a author/writer, this would definitely stop me from ever wanting to read anything she has to write. If she knows the truth why don't the investigators go to her and stop this round of bull. Just another way of making money off this dead child, as I said, this is disgusting and so is the aurthor of this book and anyone that has little to do except purchase these lies and let someone make money off Caylee.
Sick, Sick people in this world.
There is no truth in this book, if so, this trial would be underway today!!!!!!!!!!!!

My question is.. without an interview of Casey how could the writer know the true story of what happened? I wouldn't even spend a dime or five mins of my time reading this.

Ms. Fanning, in all due respect, isn't it best to write about the TRUTH once the trial begins and you hear both sides? Think about it! Any good journalist will hold off until either the trial begins or it's over. Seems you're looking for a jump start financially, whether the truth be told or not. I still say Cindy is behind this!!!!

Caylee Marie Anthony's life was taken from her by a cruel, evil monster....the truth is certainly not written in this book, only Casey Anthony knows what really happened. The author/publisher should reconsider the book title considering the murder trial of this precious child has not started.

The reason writers write, one is of course money. We all work for money. So. Is that a reason to name call and judge the author? No, not when threaded through are motivations to self-reflect, to clarify understanding of certain subject matters, to share knowledge, to educate. Too many here are assuming Diane
Fanning is soley motivated by money. Without reading the book, without reflection on the message unknown thus far all jump to judgement.
Assuming that Caylee is disrespected. If any of you had read Diane's books you would know that the victims in her books are given dignity and voice when their murderers had cruelly robbed them of it. If you had read any of her books you would know that she has written truth about the facts. I want to lastly say, someone said "how can it be truth if you have not talked to Casey?" Are you kidding,? no one and I mean no one who has talked to Casey has ever gotten the truth or even a truth.
Read the book, then make judgement.

Talk about peeps judging a book by it's cover! Those of you who are criticizing the book haven't even read it yet. Why don't you wait to read it before making up your mind about it. If you're like me, and are interested in finding out the whys about how people act, then this may just be the book for you. And, it's true, as one blogger wrote, True Crime authors do not normally see financial windfalls from their books.

I love books, and am appalled at the way the people on this blog are attacking one. If you don't like the subject of the book, just don't read it, but leave the rest of us to the joy of learning something new... And, just because a subject has had ton of media exposure doesn't mean we know the whole story!

I would suggest that the folks who have "used"
Caylee are the very folks who were her family.
Writing about any subject, does not make the subject "used".
This author, in particular, is an amazing author and in all other books I've read by the same auther (Through The Window (about Tommy Lynn Sells ..who, now that I think about it, the writer was never accused of exploiting his victims) "Into The Water" and many other books are all written with facts supported by documents on record. I especially like this author. She has an uncanny ability to take you into the minds of the players.
Try it, I'm sure you will like it.:)

Dianna Fanning is an extraordinary writer and those people who are criticizing her work for the wrong reasons such as money or "using the child" are missing the point of a good book. She will embrace the live of an innocent child and narrate her tragedy in a compelling and respectful manner. I would advice those who critic a writer like her, to go back to school and learn to enjoy fascinating books. Remember history is made by books.

  • Sandie 2 years ago

I don't get the whole thing about an author who writes about a case "exploiting" or "using" the victim. I think it is the exact opposite. It is the work of objective reporters and authors that highlight the horror Caylee's own family inflicted on her. No author taped Caylee's mouth shut with a heart sticker, and reporting the shocking facts doesn't make them responsible. Should we not report crime stories so that they can take place in the dark? I'd much prefer that these horrors are examined in full daylight.

Fanning is by far the most respected author of the true crime genre today. I wouldn't expect people who get their information from tabloids or blogs to understand that. BTW how is this blog any different? It's exploiting the case for their own purpose--without any independent verification of facts. You guys are suckers if you get all your information off blogs and tabloids, while criticizing a book you've never read. Big suckers!

My only critic is that i wish she had waited to complete this book until after the trial when it is all said and done because who knows what will happen at trial or what other information will be let out to the public at the trial along with will casey finally flod or continue to plead her innocence once it all starts to stack up against her. I think that the book would be super awsome if it had all the trial info in it as well

Oh Please People, Diane Fanning is NOT profiting off of little Caylee's death, she is ONLY writing a book about this case.

This is the first of many to be written about this case, If you refuse to buy this book about Caylee then you might as well refuse to buy any other books written about Caylee since all the other authors will be "Profiting" from Caylee's death too.

Murder, always horrific. My question, however, is what would lead any of us to elevate this one murder as being a more horrendous crime than, for example, the largely unheralded triple murder committed by University of Georgia Professor George Zinkhan in May 2009? Sure, George Zinkhan killed himself, too, as mass-murdering men often do in their unbounded rage and hatred, but the fact remains that objectively the more murders, the more lives lost, and the more horrible the crime. Any fair-minded assessment counts the numbers of people killed (also raped, maimed, etc.) by men and focuses there for educating the public about violence and how we might stop it. Casey is an aberration in her gender class who may be found guilty of murdering one person; George, too typical these days of violence run amok, but clearly a man who murdered three people. Yet who does the mainstream media and its well-paid authors focus upon? And what does it say about the public that laps it up?

@ K I think you have lost your mind if you want to sit there and say that Casey is a good person, maybe she used to have good days, but i'm so sorry to let you in on the facts, she killed her own daughter, that beautiful baby girl, that God graciously gave to her, killed her, that's what sane parents try to prevent from happening to their children, our job as a parent is to protect our children, at ALL cost, and to keep them safe, she failed miserably as a parent and she took her child for granted and I hope that she reads this, and that it rips her apart, just like she ripped that child away from her family and this life, that GOD gave her, Casey doesn't care about anyone but herself, she's nothing but an overgrown spoiled brat that never grew up, I hope she gets a LOT of time to sit and remember her daughter and what she did, but no matter where she is , she will NEVER get away from what she did, she will have to live with it forever, the rest of her life. Nancy Grace, I'm a fan!

@ Jan, I think what makes it so much worse in our minds is that she was Caylee's mother, a mother's love is the closet thing next to God's love for us, unconditional and full of grace. I know I find it awful, all these murders of innocent people and children, but when it comes from that child's own mother, I have no sympathy for Casey, she can ask God to forgive her, and he will, but she will pay for what she did, bad actions are always followed by bad consequences, and whatever her consequences are, she only has herself to thank because it's nothing that her mother, father , or anyone, did or said to her, she was the person who chose to take Caylee's life in some twisted way trying to lash out at her parents/ mother. I just thank God that he was there to welcome Caylee into heaven with his loving arms, she is in more love there than she could have ever had here, to bad she couldn't have been born to a loving mother, only God knows why...

I think that caylee's book and the book about laci rocha have different motives.....I think Mrs. Rocha wrote her book as a healing process and to make people aware that evil looks beautiful and perfect....I don't think she profited anything but some healing from the pain in her heart. Caylee's mother freaks me out....I'm not sure what was going on there. She just wasn't ready for mommyhood...she was still in the sowing oats stage of life...but for the life of me I cannot figure out why these individuals that want to party or are not ready for the resposiblity a child brings either prevents the pregnancy to start with or give the child to someone who wants a child....millions and millions of couples would have taken caylee and probably allowed mommy to visit and keep contact with her child. There are other options other than killing a baby for no reason. I think she probably didn't mean to actually kill her but whatever she gave her to knock her out, she gave her too much then freaked out.....I kinda blame the granny, too....why didn't she help her child and babysit more so she could live her life....what was so important that she couldn't have taken the baby????
