Los Angeles Station Fire update (video)

As of 1:00 p.m. ET, the Station Fire has spread to 140,150 acres and continues to burn throughout the Angeles National Forest. The Station Fire’s cause has been under investigation and today, Deputy Incident Commander Carlton Joseph stated that the fire was caused by humans, however it is unsure whether it was intentional arson or by an accident. According to a report by the County of Los Angeles fire department, as of 8:35 a.m. CT, tireless efforts by firefighters have proved successful and the Station Fire is now 22% contained. This is a great improvement as the fire was only 5% contained yesterday. However, the fire is still extremely active and flame lengths extend up to 80 feet.

More structures have been destroyed; yesterday there were a total of 53 homes and buildings destroyed. By 8:35 this morning, that number had increased to 92. Of those 92 structures 62 are residential homes, 3 are commercial property structures, and 27 are classified as other. There are currently 4,128 personnel actively working on containing the Station Fire. There have been no more fatalities since two firefighters tragically lost their lives when their vehicle rolled down a mountainside. Six injuries have been attributed to the fire.
