Kanye West snatches microphone from Taylor Swift, tells her 'I'm gonna let you finish' video, photos

Commentary

Kanye West has added another “What in the world was he thinking?” entry to his collection of insert foot in mouth moments, by snatching the microphone away from 19 year old Taylor Swift. Unfortunately for Kanye West, he continues to have these uncontrollable outbursts in front of the public eye. I have one question for Kanye, “Who does he think he is?” As for Taylor Swift, her moment in the spotlight was robbed and marred, as Kanye continues to insult and rudely interrupt those who he feels aren’t worthy of public admiration or honor.

Most people remember Kanye West straying from his prepared script on the live NBC fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The benefit was held on September 2, 2005 and was called, “A Concert for Hurricane Relief.” West stood adjacent to Mike Myers and the two were to read a script. Mike Myers spoke, and then it was Kanye West’s turn. West stated, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

Mike Myers had a bewildered look on his face as the camera cut away and then focused on Chris Tucker. In last night’s episode, the camera panned to Beyonce who had a similar look of bewilderment on her face. Taylor Swift appeared stunned and shocked and the audience booed. Again, who does Kanye West think he is?

Last night, Kanye jumped on stage as Taylor Swift received her award and was making her acceptance speech. He announced, “Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time," said West, as the crowd booed his outburst.

Kanye West has issued an apology to Taylor Swift through his blog. It reads, “I'm so sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment! Abeyance’s video was the best of this decade!!! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV.

I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw (tomorrow). Welcome to the real world!!! Everybody wanna boo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture! No disrespect but we watchin' (watching) the show at the crib right now cause...well you know!!! I'm still happy for Taylor!!! Booyaa. You are very very talented. I gave my award to Outkast when they deserved it over me. That's what it is! I'm not crazy yall (y'all), I'm just real. Sorry for that! I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry!!! Much respect!!!"

I wonder how many find that apology to be sincere, especially since he reiterated the comment regarding Beyonce’s video being the best of all time.

Kanye mentioned that he spoke to Taylor Swift’s mother and that she said the same thing that his mother would have said. Well, Kanye, I have some motherly advice for you as well. It goes like this…
“If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
