John Krasinski, Diane Kruger, and Justin Timberlake announce 2009 Golden Globe nominees (video)

John Krasinski, Diane Kruger, and Justin Timberlake joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Philip Berk and announced the nominations for the 67th Annual Golden globe Awards this morning at approximately 5:00 p.m. The announcements were presented in the same arena where the awards will be held on January 17, 2009: The Beverly Hilton.

Twenty-five categories round out the Golden Globes, all which showcase the best in feature films and television. The show will be hosted by Ricky Gervais and will air on NBC from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET in January.

Association President Philip Berk stepped up to the podium to make the introductions and then John Krasinski began to announce the list of nominess. He began with the nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor in a television drama.  He followed with Best Screenplay and when he announced Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds a shout was heard coming from the audience. His final announcement was that of Meryl Streep who received a double nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Film. As he walked away from the microphone, handing over the reins to actress Diane Kruger, cheers and applause were heard as the stunning revelation of Meryl’s accomplishment was realized: she will compete against herself for the golden award.

Diane Kruger became excited when she read Best Director for a Motion Picture, Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds; she played the character Bridget von Hammersmark in the film.

Justin Timberlake brought humor to the announcements and had several moments where he brought the room to laughter.
