Jaycee Lee Dugard: Private Prison backyard photos, pictures, slideshow, and video

Jaycee Lee Dugard spent the majority of her 18 years of captivity living in squalor. In the backyard within a backyard, her private prison consisted of sheds, debris, a locked cage, and rudimentary fixtures such as electricity provided by an extension cord and a makeshift shower. The backyard where Jaycee Lee Dugard grew up, and gave birth to two of her captors children, was filled with garbage, debris, old dirty toys, and bric-a-brac.

In one of the pictures you can see a variety of potted plants with two deck or lounge chairs sitting outside the tent. It was as if Jaycee Dugard and her kids grew up camping. Ironically, there is a welcome sign, affixed to a tree as behind it stands another shed with tarps draped across the top. Coolers and other debris can be seen strewn across the ground in front of the makeshift home. You can see other decorations below the welcome sign, they appear to be a bell, a butterfly and a dove or star.

In one photo, the shed has large, metal locks on the outside doors. It appears that this could be used to lock someone in from the outside. Adjacent to the shed is a large wire cage with what appears to be a lock on the door. Trash and more debris are strewn across the outside of the shed and cage.
Inside one of the sheds, the photos reveal more disorganization, garbage, and debris. Shelves are cluttered in what appears to be the home office. Phillip Garrido operated a printing business from his home, Jaycee often helped with the work. She sent E-Mails to clients and handled graphic arts applications. Boxes, files, and papers are strewn across the floor and shelves.

Atop an old printer, you will see more debris and two furbies. Along with toys, photos of books, makeup and a hair brush reveal some of the items that Jaycee and her daughters had access to. The photos reveal a large collection of books, many which are crime stories. A self help book based upon self-esteem and family bonds were captured in the photos.

Jaycee Lee Dugard is undoubtedly a victim of Stockholm syndrome. Though some find this diagnosis to be myth, the FBI, police, and psychologists worldwide acknowledge its existence. What is an interesting aspect to this case is that Jaycee Lee Dugard had a core personality, before being kidnapped. She had her own identity set in place, her own likes, dislikes, and more. There is no doubt (in my mind) that when she was kidnapped, she took on the likes of her captor for self-preservation, a common occurrence with the Stockholm syndrome. Her children, however, Starlet and Angel (to see their photo view the slideshow or read this article: How Jaycee Lee Dugard was found: U.C. Berkeley Police describe Dugard’s children Starlet and Angel have only known life with Phillip Garrido, the backyard environment, and the confusion of believing their mother was their sister. It is quite possible that it will be more difficult for Starlet and Angel to readjust to life after Phillip Garrido and captivity than it will be for Jaycee Dugard. Reports have stated that Starlet and Angel Dugard have only recently learned the truth about their father, that he kidnapped and raped their mother.
