has come forward stating that he is Jaycee’s biological father. Now he wants a paternity test to prove it. The man is now represented by Gloria Allred, children’s victim rights activist. Though it is understandable that Jaycee’s father would want to reunite with his daughter, the announcement has many wondering why now?
Speaking in front of television cameras, Ken Slayton made the announcement that he wants to reunite with his daughter, a daughter he has never met. Slayton stated, “We love you, Jaycee, and we're waiting for your call ... We would like to meet in a private setting very very soon."
During the news conference, Gloria Allred stated that Ken Slayton and Terry Probyn (Jaycee’s mother) had dated for approximately one month in 1979. She said that Terry did tell Ken Slayton that she was pregnant but that she disappeared and he never saw her again. You can see the full press conference in the video below.
At a time where Jaycee Dugard’s emotional well-being and healing is of the utmost concern, the question must be asked if this is the best time for Slayton’s announcement. The revelation has drawn outcry from many who support Jaycee as they wonder if Slayton isn’t just looking for a quick 15 minutes of fame.
Others think that it might be the best time for Jaycee to deal with her identity at once. Should Ken Slayton be her father, what better time than for her to be introduced to him then now?
Gloria Allred began the press conference by introducing Ken Slayton, his wife Jamie, and two daughters Sarah and Brittany. Should Ken Slayton be Jaycee’s biological father that would mean that not only has Jaycee been reunited with her mother, aunt, and other family members; but she would also have two half-sisters that she could reunite with. Ken Slayton also has two children, a son and daughter, from a previous marriage; this would also indicate that Jaycee would have two more siblings.
Gloria Allred refers to Jaycee Dugard’s mother as ‘Susan’, her name is Terry Susan Probyn, but he knew her as Susan. One important piece of information that was revealed during the press conference was that when Jaycee Dugard was first kidnapped, Ken Slayton was identified by Terry Susan Probyn as her biological father. The FBI contacted him, verifying Terry’s claims that Ken was the father. He had made a pledge that if she were ever recovered, he would be the father to her that he had missed the opportunity to experience before.
During the press conference, Gloria Allred expresses many points as to why Ken Slayton believes that he is Jaycee’s father and the grandfather of her daughters, Angel and Starlet.

I am sure Slayter can't wait to fork up about 16 years of child support. Gloria can figure that out for him.
Well Ken gets his 15 minutes of fame. What is it with everyone from California wanting to be a media whore?
Jaycee has probably always been curious about this. Any child would ask "Mom, why is my last name Dugard instead of Probyn." And Carl Probyn never adopted her, so the guy does have some rights. He also may have some obligations, but it sounds like he has some money, so that may work out.
He wanted to offer a "normal" family to Jaycee and a positive (?) male model. Does he think, Terry Probyn and Carl Probyn are not a normal family? Does Gloria Allmad think, all kids of single mothers should be taken away from them? - He knew that T.P. was pregnant and he surely responded to this in a nasty way, so she didn't let him know anything else about. He could have announced his will to pay child support and the officials would have found the address.
If he is her biological father who is anyone to say that he can't meet her and be in her life? If he is her father I am sure he wants to love her and protect her. Ken Slayton, I read is a Vietnam war veteran and has two other daughters. Maybe meeting will help heal all of them. The demon is the guy who kidnapped and raped her for 18 years, along with the goofy sick wife! The media and Oprah need to give this family space and time to heal and progress. Oprah has a lot f nerve trying to get ratings by wanting this interview, Oprahs nuts! Good luck to Jaycee, her daughters, her mom and dad and family on healing and God be with you.
Truth be told, anytime Gloria Allred gets in front of a camera, it's HER who is trying to get her 15 min of fame. She ends up getting only about a minute of fame for each case. SO I think she's about due for retirement.
In response to Truth comment about "who is anyone who says he can't meet her and be in her life", Jaycee is someone to say he cannot see her. She has rights and she is an adult. If she does not wish to get to know the man, that is her right. At first Slayton says he wants nothing from her now he wants a piece of her body by demanding the DNA sample. She has had 18 years dealing with a man who made demands on her and did not care about her rights, now here comes another man who wants to make demands of her and does not care for her rights. I say shame on Ken Slayton and his attorney.
