New York Congressman, Peter King, says that there has been too much coverage of Michael Jackson in the news. He also says that Michael Jackson is a pervert, pedophile, and low life. Peter King pointed to the attention that Michael Jackson is receiving since his death, and that the sacrifices being made by people serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan are being ignored.
King described it as “society is glorifying a low-life while ignoring the efforts of teachers, police officers, firefighters, veterans and volunteers.”
Many feel that there has been a great deal of coverage regarding Michael Jackson’s death, and there is no doubt that the negativity surrounding his life has been all but ignored since Michael’s death. The focus has been on the old Michael Jackson, the one who gave to charities, who wrote songs like, “We are the World”, and who organized star studded charitable events. The Michael Jackson portrayed in the media is the Michael Jackson before the scandals, before the trials, even before the many plastic surgeries that caused his nose to deteriorate.
Is Michael Jackson receiving too much glory? Is he being honored and memorialized in a way while ignoring the allegations that had plagued him during his last years? Though many allegations were brought against Michael Jackson, he was ultimately acquitted of child molestation. Yet, that acquittal did very little to bring him back into the good favor of the public eye. He left the United States, was referred to as ‘Wacko Jacko”, and was working on a comeback tour. Since Michael Jackson’s death, the non-stop media coverage has portrayed Jackson in another light. The speculations of child molesting are rarely brought up. That is, until Peter King discussed them on air, in front of an American Legion building. What do you think? Do you think it is unfair or in poor taste to discuss Michael Jackson being a pervert or pedophile now that he’s dead? Or do you agree with Peter King and feel that he is a pervert, pedophile, and low life that is receiving far too much coverage?

I think the world should embrace this terrible loss. Micheal Jackson was a wonderful person and bad things always happen to good people.
