There is nothing in the section you pointed out (and some are shouting to the roof about) that has anything to do with "euthanasia" or "the bureaucrats playing God as to who should live or die (the shouters throwing fear into the mix). What it does say is that the doctors can now discuss with patients the various choices they have. My Dad had a DNR and a Living Will. He decided (on his own) to stop the "treatments", spent some time in a hospice, then said he wanted to go home to die. A bed was set up in the living room where he could look out the window at his beautiful lake. When he died, he did so with dignity, without tubes and such protruding from his body and family was with him 24 hrs a day. We did have a nurse visit him every day and someone to bathe him every other day, thanks to Hospice and a Home Health Care Agency. That portion of the bill also emphasizes the importance of Hospice and Home Health Care Services to our seniors and to make sure there is proper funding.
What in the world? We do NOT have access to this bill because it is passworded and we do not have permission?? And they wonder why the citizens of this country are furious!
This is obamagenics. Totally draconion, get the government out of our lives. They screw up everything they touch and i don't want them touching me. I want nothing from the government but what the constitution outlines that's it!
I couldn't find the part about the death panels.
The first email that I received about H.R. 3200 alarmed me. Now that I have read a good portion of it, I realized that some of that alarm was unfounded. But there are many provisions in the bill that I cannot approve. There is far too much government control over portions of the present health care system that is working to the satisfaction of those with health care coverage. What we need is a plan to help those without coverage, not a total overhaul of our health care system. You don't fix a watch that has a problem keeping time with a hammer.
T L You forgot to mention the medical research panel that was funded in the stimulus bill(1.3 billion $s). This panel is now up and running, the participants having been picked by Obama. His healthcare advisor and budget director, Ezekel Emmanuel MD, is almost certainly on that panel. He has stated that it is not discrimination to offer treatment to a 25 year old and with hold that same treatment from a 65 year old. This panel answers to the president and does not have congressional oversight. They will use quality assessment of remaining years (QARY) to create formulas that will determinie who gets what treatments. That is where the rationing comes in. This is the panel Obama has stated will need to make the tough decisions about end of life issues. It is not called a death panel but it will be rationing healthcare and seniors will get the pain pill instead of the surgery (Obama's words). Rationing is a slow, and often painful, form of ethanasia. Peoples' fears are justified!
Pages 428 and 429 are more troubling. We all want end of life options for our loved ones and ourselves, but this is talking about agencies and offices of state with only two mentions of non-state parties. In other words, the state will decide what treatment citizens will receive based on state law.
As the system stands, those who are able to pay have control of their options. If we adopt this plan, no one will have control of their options outside of state law which will need to change in order to cover those who cannot pay.
I've had government run healthcare (military) and private healthcare (insurance). I'll take the government run healthcare any day of the week. Same care but never denied and it only cost me $35 to have a baby. Private Insurance costs enormous premiums, $500 deductible, and 20% of the bill. I can't even afford to go to the doctor. I don't think this bill goes far enough, I'd like to see the U.S. Government use OUR tax dollars to pay for all healthcare and remove private insurers from the equation...they'd still be in business with home, auto, renters insurance etc.
I just want to say, this bill was written very vaguely in order to allow certain loopholes. DON'T just take the words at face value, READ in between the lines and you will see where the problem lies. This is too much government control, in my opinion. God bless America... we're going to need it.
Can't even pull this bill up...that's transparency for you.
Where does it state if Obama, etc are exempt from this bill? I've heard rumors that they are.
"It is not called a death panel but it will be rationing healthcare and seniors will get the pain pill instead of the surgery (Obama's words)." I had to laugh at this, go back and watch this video again. He said if you take a pill to start with you will not need the surgery. This was in reference to reducing cost, that if people can get preventative care there is no need for as much surgery spending. Also this bill is elective. Do not elect to have it if you do not want it.
D. G.- go on the House of representative website you can see it there!
So Will, you read all 1900 pages already? I doubt it. Might wanna do that before you say is and is not in there. Just a thought.
Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security have about 42 trilion in IOUS. The government simply has a problem using funds for that which they were allocated. The money intended for healthcare will not go there. The system will altimately be broke. This is not good for America. If they say there are 45,000,000 uninsured than why does the government just insure them? Ever wonder when taxes keep going up goverment still never has enough to pay? Look at the public school system that costs about 750 billion a year that is infested with coruption , you think healthcare will be different? I work with a guy that lives in Canada and praises the insurance he has with our American company. I asked him why he just doesn't use the canadien socialized system and he said"it sucks" and "I would not have a family doctor with the goverment" So here is a man that is being taxed to pay the socialist healthcare yet ops to use a company plan and pay $200 each month for it. Taxed twice.
@ Sandra...This is a socialist bill, I don't care if you like it or not. Bottom line is it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and SOCIALIST....you do remember the Constitution don't you? You took an oath to defend it once, didn't you?
What is wrong with anyone who agrees with this bill? Have you all gone bananas and forgotten about the CONSTITUTION? Why don't you all just attach choke chains to yourselves and crawl on your knees now? Anyone who goes along with what the government is doing to this country are COWARDS and TRAITORS. Socialism is being being forced on you and you bow.... The government has NO right to force it's citizens to purchase a good or service....IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. How have so many of you been mislead? SOCIALISM: the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
So you go along with giving the billionaire health insurance companies salaries rather than a non-profitting government plan where all the monies actually go for the people's care????? These companies profit---we don't. And the middlemen------the billionaires------keep anyone out that they can. They only want the well because they have no interest in paying out, therefore, they win!!!!!! You are delusional!

All states excluding New Hampshire require auto insurance at least for liability, or you're require to prove that you have the means to cover any bodily injury you cause with your vehicle. Funny there's no outcry over that. This is to "insure" that people live up to their personal responsibilities. You shouldn't have to pay for your hospital bills if I run you down with my car, so the gov't provides the population the security they need to feel safe when they take the road by requiring otherwise irresponsible people to get coverage. This is no different. If you don't get insurance but need the ER I shouldn't have to pay higher taxes to cover your bills. If you would open your eyes you would see that this bill protects your tax dollars by making sure someone who could otherwise afford healthcare coverage doesn't fail in their personal responsibility thereby forcing you or me to pay through our taxes what they should pay themselves. While your definition of socialism is correct it doesn't apply in the least to the U.S. because we have elected officials that can be voted out if the people are unhappy. Which happens all the time. With the greed that has infected this country I have no fear that capitalism will never die. Big Business won't allow it. When a president is elected on a platform of healthcare reform and then he reforms health care, its called democracy stupid. Change the channel Fox News is clouding your vision!
Yes there are things that will be imporoved and changed over time which is why it is purposely written to allow loop holes. We have to get something started, everyone is not going to agree on everything. If we don't at least get the ball rolling we will be back at square one.
I am in the process of reading this entire bill but have already seen some plan english translations translating the legalize if you will and it points to definite violations of our constitutional rights. I have seen parts that give them access to our banking and personal information that is none of their business. Being retired military I think they have enough information on me as it is. Medical Care and how I obtain that is my decision based on the constitution not the federal governments. Governments does not need to be involved in our (free) lives to that level.
MARK OF THE BEAST IS ON PAGE 1002!
To Sandra in Nebraska,
while that is all well and good that you have those benefits, you do realize that th government operates those situations at a lose. Meaning, we the tax payees make up the difference. If every American had those benefits, how long do you think we could exsist at that lose. It's everyday checkbook balancing logistics. Those are the benefits that I feel as an American are owed to our military personnel and veterans, not to the general public who are capable of workig and paying for healthcare but CHOOSE not to. The part of the population to be addressed is the ones that fall in the gap. They WANT healthcare but can't afford it and don't qualify for government healthcare.
@Rhonda
It is never a clear line like the way you have just drawn that argument up. There are always exceptions. There are a lot less of those people who CHOOSE not to buy health care that there are those who WANT and cannot afford to buy health insurance. There will always be that insignificant few that will abuse the system, but its chasing ghosts to try and sort them out. What system will we use to determine the difference? How will we deal with those who are abusing and those who actually need it. I think this bill does and exceptional job explaining this. Anything more would be superfluous and would end in more spending.
I would grade your website (as it relates to access to the text of the health bill) exceptionally poor. After clicking every link available "at the bottom of the page", I was unable to determine where to go to see this text. Additionally, clicking on some of the links took me to a page that said I could not gain access to whatever was behind curtain #'s 1, 2, and 3.
So, it appears that Nazi Pelosi has not only succeeded (along with Reid, Frank, and company) in bambozzling the voting public (ie., you gotta vote for it before you can see what's in it), but then, after passage, further obfuscating the truth by not allowing a normal citizen easy access to see what is in the 1000 plus (I heard something like 2,500) pages of governmental gibberish that will, ultimately destroy health care in the U.S. as we now know it.
I simply cannot understand how a citizen would vote for a Representative or Senator who would vote in favor of something like this (ie., not knowing what's in it until after it is passed). Undoubtedly, all of the folks who voted on (For) this DID NOT read it before doing so. Hopefully the next more centrist administration will be able to repeal this monstrosity before it destroys our republic.
