Famed American attorney who is known for her high profile cases, Gloria Allred has sent an open letter to former Miss California Carrie Prejean regarding sexting. In Carrie Prejean’s latest scandal (a number of sex-tapes circulating the Internet, Carrie Prejean admitted to sexting the sexually explicit images to her now ex-boyfriend. Gloria Allred sent the open letter explaining that sexting is a crime and that those who engage in the practices are engaging in transmitting child pornography. Surely, Carrie Prejean would find being labeled a sex offender the most significant tarnish on her reputation when compared to her other blemishes.
Gloria Allred began by explaining the definition of sexting and by saying that it was fair to assume that Carrie Prejean knew what sexting was. It was defined by Gloria Allred as sending sexually explicit photos via cell phone. She then asked Carrie Prejean if she knew that sexting was illegal and that those who engage in sexting are transmitting child pornography.
Gloria Allred then asked Carrie Prejean if she felt that she should be prosecuted. Gloria reminded Carrie Prejean that many who have been prosecuted for sexting have been sentenced to prison and labeled a sex offender.
She continued in her letter by stating that it was time for Carrie Prejean to take full responsibility for her sexting and to face the legal consequences of her actions. You may read the open letter to Carrie Prejean here.

Miss Prejean was an adult(18 or over) when she sent those photos. By law it is not a crime for adults to sext. What is terrible is that Ms. Allred is correct. Every year thousands of kids in the US are charged with child pornography and are being labeled as a sex offender, all for sexting. What kind of country have we become when we so eager to make felony sex offenders out of kids due to a foolish mistake? It is sad to see how low we have sunk!
So exactly what is Gloria Alfred's interest in this. Did she also send letters to Carrie's ex boyfriend who sold the videos, TMZ for obtaining and viewing them and the Pageant officials who also obtained them and have viewed them. This would all have be a private matter between two individuals if not for those kind folks. Seems to me they are the ones that deserve jail time. Obviously Ms Alfred is just another attacker.

I agree with your assessments entirely except, WMW the age at this point is a he-said-she-said argument and, A.C., I may have chosen different language but the sentiment is the same. Carrie is an easy target for the likes of Gloria Allred but I fail to find her open letter to bigger game, such as Bill Clinton, advising him to come clean and accept the mantle of "sex offender" as his permanent legacy. Any help on that quest for such a letter?
Our youth are bombarded constantly to "be sexy" and now the legal system, ala Gloria Allred, totally destroys their lives for foolishly doing just that. Teens in my area joke about giving or getting a "Clinton". Yes, WMW, it is sad to see how far we have sunk!
Hi CMC, Bill Clinton is not a sex offender. Adultery is not a crime (in the legal sense of the term). Bill Clinton, despite all his legal troubles, was found guilty of perjury for lying about his affair with Monica Lewinsky on the stand. I think Gloria Allred recognized what I felt - that Ms. Prejean was lying again (this time about the age she made these videotapes) so that they would never be released. Each of the manufacture, distribution and ownership of child pornography (even unintentional) is a crime in the USA. Prejean put herself into a Catch 22 position, her public insistence that she was 17 meant she is guilty of the manufacture and distribution of child porn. PS: I believe that there is sufficient evidence that she was of age - or else Vivid (the porn company that bought the tapes) would not have purchased them (rumor has it the tapes have dates on them).
The comments from all the Prejean apologists are more than humorous, they boggle the mind. Apparently, EVERYONE except Prejean is responsible for creating and disseminating Prejean's solo sex tapes. HMMMM.....
Hi, Goodxtian, nice response but I'm not looking at the topic of Clinton being an adulterer but rather as a governor or president using his position to curry sexual favors from young women. If he had been the CEO of a large corporation, say Exxon, and did the same thing he'd have been crucified by the media and Gloria may have cheered the execution and "sex offender" legacy.
I don't rule out the possibility that Miss Prejean was lying about her age to prevent the tapes from getting out but I really question Allred's real motive in her open letter, which seems to publicly harrass/crush Prejean as much as possible. Why not a private letter to advise Carrie of her potential situation? I definitely agree with laws that prevent child pornography but there must be a better way to handle the cases where the children make the foolish error to her/himself than destroying their entire lives. Would Gloria Allred, et al, smile and breathe a sigh of relief if Prejean got hauled off in cuffs?
Jurlesia: I don't see any "Prejean apologists" here. Just questioning Allred's motives in choosing Prejean as a target as opposed to many others. Why not "open letters" to the lot of them, including the distributing ex-boyfriend whos identity seems to be well protected for some strange reason? Also, as WMW points out, application of the child pornography laws and "sex offender" for life to kids who are foolish enough to this to themselves is too draconian and it is bad law in their case.
Ms Alfred shows her true colors at the beginning of page two of that "open letter" were she wants to link the gay (it always goes back to the root of the vile attacks) marriage question to the latest attack.
You can always follow the trail back to; gays, extreme left-wing wachos, Hateful Christianity bashers, Follywood and it's gossip/media, the porn industry (like Shanna Moakler and her associates), the misogynists including some senior liberal politicians and sometimes it's just vulgar juveniles getting their only sexual stimulation by seeing their vulgarity on the internet.

It's amazing how hypocritical Christians are...Frankly, they should be supporting the content of Gloria Allred's letter if they are "by the book". Gloria Allred makes the point that Carrie Prejean is behaving immorally, like conservatives point out about gay people. Premarital sex, underage sex, lying, and committing CRIMES (sorry, people argue that homosexuality is a crime, and frankly-and legally, Gloria Allred makes a point that Carrie Prejean's acts are potentially a crime---it's all about being "by the book", after all) Conservatives make a moral argument against homosexuality and gay marriage and that's fine...I wish they'd just practice half of what they preach. According to the rules of their society, Carrie Prejean---and the majority of them for that matter, are condemned to hell too, for their various transgressions. Join the homosexual club in hell. I'm sure they'll make it a point to make you all very welcome.
