Conrad Murray to surrender Friday for Michael Jackson's death
Less than one week after Michael Jackson’s children, Prince and Paris Jackson accepted a Lifetime Achievement Grammy award for their father, his doctor; Conrad Murray is expected to surrender to authorities for his death. According to reports by CNN, the attorney for Conrad Murray is currently in negotiations with the Los Angeles Police Department to arrange his surrender. It has not been confirmed but reports indicate that Conrad Murray will be arraigned on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles, California.
Conrad Murray was the last person to see Michael Jackson alive and it is believed that Murray administered the fatal dose of propofol (Diprivan) which ultimately killed the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Throughout the seven months since Michael Jackson’s death, all focus has been on Murray. The Los Angeles Police Department, following the Coroner’s lead, has determined that Michael Jackson’s death was a homicide. Reports also state that Conrad Murray recently left Houston, Texas and returned to Los Angeles where he awaits his surrender.
It is believed that Conrad Murray will surrender in an attempt to avoid the media circus that would follow should Dr. Murray be taken into custody, handcuffed, and extradited from Texas to California. The negotiations hope to prevent that type of drama. The likelihood that the media fanfare would diminish completely is slim to none. Once Dr. Conrad Murray steps into a criminal court building, the cameras will be there, ready and waiting.
Charges have not yet been filed in the case, but it is expected that Murray will be charged with involuntary manslaughter. At this point, it is too early to determine whether or not Conrad Murray will stand trial.
