Are Sandra Bullock and Jesse James victims of the Oscar curse? (Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee photos)
Things aren’t looking so well for Sandra Bullock. First she was nominated for, and won, two Razzies followed by her surprising Oscar win for Best Actress. It was the first time she had been nominated and even she remarked she was surprised to pick up the golden statue. It’s common knowledge that in Hollywood an Oscar nomination (regardless of whether or not you win) means greater revenue for the actor and actress involved.
But there’s something else that is common knowledge in Hollywood, something that many are talking about with the surprise announcement that Sandra Bullock’s husband, Jesse James, carried on an 11-month long affair with a tattoo model named Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee: the Oscar Curse.
Are Hollywood couples getting divorced after a woman wins an Oscar or is this just a sign of higher divorce rates across the nation?
Reese Witherspoon won best actress in 2006 for her performance in ‘Walk the Line.’ Shortly afterwards, it was announced that she and Ryan Phillippe would end their marriage. Other Best Actress wins that were followed by divorce include Halle Berry for her 2002 win in Monster’s Ball, Hillary Swank for Million Dollar Baby, and Kate Winslet for her win in The Reader.
Some wonder if the success of these women overpower the men in their lives causing greater friction in the marriage.

The Oscar Curse is exactly what I thought about when Bullock's story came out. It's sad that she couldn't enjoy her moment without all of the negative stuff.
