After Adam Lambert finished his AMA performance, we ran a poll asking viewers whether they liked or disliked the performance. Though the poll is not officially over, so far the count has been close with 51% hating the performance and 49% loving it. You can only vote once and at the time of this writing, there have been a total of 681 votes. Three hundred and forty eight voted against the performance while three hundred and thirty three voted for the performance. (click here to vote in the poll )
In addition to the poll, viewers have submitted comments through a variety of mediums, such as on the poll’s website, on the Examiner page, and on Facebook. Some comments state that Adam Lambert was only expressing his artistic creativity and that many should have realized he would perform in such a manner.
Others have expressed outrage calling him vulgar, perverted, and a disgrace. In addition to the sexual overtones and blatant display of oral sex, groping a female in the private area, and male on male kissing, other viewers stated that they were not impressed with Adam Lambert’s vocal skills as well.
There were many comparisons to his performance with that of Tim Curry’s in Rocky Horror Picture Show, so much so that we added the video and made a side by side comparison. Adam Lambert conjures up Sweet Transvestite

Many of the live AMA performances were erotic, provocative and looked like they came out of a Vegas strip club. Thank God for Bikini waxing! I agree that Adam's performance was over the top - So What? Boys kiss boys - get used to it. If you want "wholesome, family entertainment", try the Disney channel.
i thought it was very entertaining
your right.....
Haven't you heard? - At the top of his game, "Lambert the Lame" is now Adams new name. Dispite leather and lace and make up on his face he couldn't rock the place because he's really just a Glam Flame-R.
His public display of disrespect towards the wide range of the viewing audiences and the level of open degradation towards the gay public that have been trying so hard to be respected as ordinary citizens in the media, Adam Lambert owes an apology to both the Straight public and the Gay special interest groups. What Adam Lambert behaved like was a Gay Porn Impressionism act from the 1890's prostitute infested underworld of the French Moulin Rouge District. His lack of professionalism, modesty and flagrant lack of concern for young viewers is a clear insight of his untrustworthiness and should be censured and his contracts canceled for his neglect of standards of moral conduct.
he is a disgusting pig........... I disliked his performance.....
he is such an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!worst performance ever...
Words of wisdom for Adam...let your voice be the wow factor not your promiscuity
His performance was one of the things that saved the show from being a complete waste of time. It was over the top but not anymore erotic then the females performances. Just wished his vocals were better.... so odd for them to be off.
I have very mixed feelings about his performance. Just on quality I don't think it was very good, as I feel it should be about the music, and the music was definitely on the back burner here. In that sense I feel like he has tarnished his personna. I guess he had the right to express himself but why go so far? We don't need be whacked over the head with it, and I followed him as a fabulous vocalist not because I want his crotch in my face.
watch his video of fye...it is great...if he would have done that style at ama he would have brought down the house. in a good way!! he had 100 percent of fans and doing a stunt that stole his vocals, made him appear like a rebel trying to make a sexual point. this is not the place. you are/were in the big league now dude. sure sex is in music. not quite like that! it was in your face to all the public.a bit to low to go and come out clean. not good. you wanna play with the big dogs you really need to tone it down and step it up.a real artist knows how!! good luck
Tyler do me a favor, SUCK IT!!!!!!!!
How does 51% to 49% translate into viewers "hating" Adam's AMA performance. To me that says it's pretty evenly divided. And for an unscientific poll it has to have a +/- of at least 8-10 points. A scientific poll is usually +/-3%, at least.
Also, you've got idiots and haters, like the jerk-0ffs below, who never would've said anything positive about Adam, even if the whole WORLD had LOVED his performance. Votes from people like that certainly can't be considered equal to people who expressed real feelings, positive or negative.
So much for your stupid poll LOL
really like adam lambert but thriugh the whole show they were talking about his must see first performance and i was like so excited but wen i was wacthing it it just kept getting more and more sexual and im like oooh wats going on adam omg wy are u doing this. then i said wow that performance can not be good for his image. and its not a double standard caus you dont see women putting there crocth up to there dancers faces and kissing there band members
Adam....you're trying too hard? Where's the star quality? Your vocals and look are what makes you fascinating... not sticking your tongue down a man's or woman's mouth or forcing a man into oral sex. Felt bad for you... we didn't listen to your voice or lyrics. What's your deep dark fear you're showing no matter who you dress up as. Good luck on figuring it out.
other than that him and lady gaga had the best performances
which brings me to why taylor swift is getting all of these awards she dont deserve she won all together about 20 awards this year 1 award show after another
We are hearing from all over the world on these message boards and once again America is being held up to ridicule for their bigotry and double standard. ABC may have dropped the ball but CBS picked it up and ADAM still appears in NYC tomorrow morning on the CBS Early Show. Watch it ... he will be GREAT!!!
Just another Bunghole Cowboy riding off into the sunset to do the bunghole boogie.
It IS a double standard. When Madonna came and kissed those two women on stage, where was the outrage then? When she was humping the ground in her "Like a Virgin" video, where was the outrage then? When a woman does it, it's "daring, fun, outrageous". When a man does it, it's "disgusting, no place for TV." I'd mention it for what it is as same sex but apparently that word is a curse word on this board....yet more hypocrisy. They actually blocked my first message!
BTW, I AM female. And I say if you're going to be disgusted with one type of [you know what, starts with H] behavior, stop being a hypocrite and be disgusted with both types of [you know what, starts with H] behavior.
JMHO
pms. I do like Madonna so I'm not necessarily picking on her in outrage. I just thought she was the perfect example for what I was trying to say. :)
Tis a show, a farce. The Zionists are going all out to promote penis worship/homosexuality as phallic worship was their religion before adopting Judaism. The Zionists control the media, so, it makes no sense to cancel interviews with this gay guy. The Zionists are behind the recent hate crime laws protecting homosexuals from discrimination and crimes against their person. After pushing so hard for these laws, which will be twisted to benefit the Zionists, why would they come down hard on their bunghole buddy? It is just another way of calling attention to him and making him more of a household word/icon. All is not as it seems.
I thought the performace was fantastic. When I saw him on American Idol it was obvious that he would go far in his career. He had a few provacative performances on that show so I am not sure why people are so surprised. It was the last performance of the evening so it was later and the kiddos should have been in bed. If you are offended by the performance don't buy his CD and just move on. The outrage is rediculous. He is not the first, nor will he be the last, to try and shock the viewing audience. He is a very talented man and I hope he goes very far with his career.
It's getting pretty sparkly in here, isn't it?
Adam totally crossed the line. I thought his performance was disgusting...I also thought the same of Madonna's! For those of us who were offended, all we can do is refuse to buy his music which will send our message loud and clear. It's a shame he didn't just show case his vocals which were amazing on American Idol. His stardom just got the "kiss" of death!
I was really amazed and outraged at the level of intolerance that wields a town that boasts of freedom of expresión.Adam is a true artist, and seen and admired at mundial.Yo writing from Argentina, in many places we know the talent of Adam and we are confident that this will only exaggerate their success
I dont think the problem is the alleged lewdness. The problem is the factual gayness.
It was not his best performance but it was still good. He is a great performer with great vocals and he will be around for a long time.
This would not be as big as a deal if he were a woman. Women have been doing this kind of raunch for a long time. Rock Stars have been getting in trouble like this since Elvis. It's no big deal. If you don't like it change the channel.
His singing was terrible. It was nothing more than a bunch of screaming and definitely not on pitch at all. Far to racey for AMA and for any daytime tv. He is a disgrace to the Gay population and to the Straight. He desplays just what Gay prejudice dispises. For the comment that he made about not carrying what others think is wrong. He should care about our young viewers who have been exposed to his disgusting behavior.
This was uncalled for. We are teaching our kids to wait till marriage to have sex and then you have performers displaying this on public tv as it is ok. The kiss is not the issue. I would not want to see this type of performance from a female or male. Think about the teenagers that were up watching this.
Double standard? I've never seen a woman grab a man and put his face to her crotch. I don't care that he's gay. This is plain and simple bad behavior that should never have ended up on television. I immediately lost respect for him. I was hoping he would be a class act. He messed up, and I hope he realizes it.
Okay people, this was his FIRST performance after Idol. Give him a chance already, he's learning. You don't have to hate him just because of his performance. Check him out on The Early Show, I bet all of you people saying you are now not a fan of him will enjoy it. Plus, if you didn't like the performance he did, you could have turned the channel, so get over it already, seriously. Everyone is making such a BIG deal out of this when it really shouldn't be. At least out of all the negative comments about him, he is getting publicity, that's good! So actually thanks everyone!
And it is a double standard because I bet if someone like Britney Spears did that on stage with another girl AGAIN, people wouldn't make such a big deal out of it, but then you see a GAY man do it and automatically think it's wrong. You think it's appropriate for your children to listen to Eminem, talking about RAPE, or seeing Lady Gaga with whiskey bottles and fire all around her, or with Rihanna and all the guns around her? Give me a break people. Out of this whole controversy, he is going to gain a ton of more fans than lose them. So really, get over it people. This has been happening forever. If you don't like it, turn the channel. Easy as that.
It's disgusting no matter what race, gender or WHATEVER that you may be! I mean, this is just not what teens and pre-teens need to see on broadcast television.
I'm 30 years older than Adam Lambert and probably older than anyone writing in. I've been fascinated by Adam since the Idol show and think he is exceptionally talented and I enjoyed watching him because he's brilliant. HOWEVER, this performance was beyond suitable for him or anyone on television. It's downright crude and shows how low class someone can be. It's not funny; it's not proving anything; it's disrepectful and disgusting. This type of behavior shows what's happening to the human population; if we begin accepting things like this and applauding it what do you think is next???? I'm from a generation where people had class and others looked up to them as a role model. Sorry Adam, I think you're great, but we did not need to see this side of you. I would like to see you raise yourself up with a public apology....or at least try to win back a better image. You should appeal to all generations; not the teenagers or 20+ set who wrongly think this kind of behavior is normal
Adam is amazing!!! great performance!
give me a break it's a performance on a music award show. Many performers before this have sold raunch and sex. It would't be a big deal if he weren't a gay man. Look at Madonna, Britney, Janet Jackson or Christina Aguilar. It's a bogus double standard. you don't turn gay from watching two guys kiss.
i have to say that it was a theatrical and interesting performance. Reminds me a bit of Freddy Mercury from Queen. A little much for Prime Time TV? Maybe slightly... however, maybe parents can talk to their children and not blame others for what is seen. There's nothing wrong with people educating their children, the kids will think it's sick or gross OR they will think the opposite. You don't have to like it, that it your choice, but let's not be uptight and judgmental. No matter what your opinion is, the boy (young man) is talented and apparently here to stay for some time. There are bigger things in this world to be upset about.
What about the Brittney Madonna kiss?? That did stir up this much bad attention.....oh thats right its a double standard...not fair to gay men...i love adam....he rocks
didnt*
i thought the back ground music was over shadowing the vocals . With every generation we feel the need to push the envelope it's part of who we are. We would never came up rock roll jazz or any other genera if not for the fact that music and culture is not stagnant it is evolving for better or worse you can't stop time from turning. Each generation is applaud at the other generation what else is new, and yes Madonna has done a lot worse for you people who live under rock
Well he was really good. His performance was mind blowing and so was his vocals. I dont care if he even penetrated a guy on stage. If its alright to see girls kissing and get excited I think its equally alright to see guys kissing and be alright about it.
If Katy Perry has a song called "I kissed a Girl" which made her famous, then he has this "For your Entertainment" to get people started. I think after a very long time its high time to use the word "the next big thing" for a male, and ADAM LAMBERT wins this crown hands down of being the next big thing to hit the world. Dont double standard people because thats being ignorant and insensitive.
And really , its not like you never fantasised about your nearest guy friend. Dont lie.You know you did it.

Yo
It a sad thing to see such a talented person throw away his new carrer just to act like disgusting in front of millions of people....
I think it's about time that someone did this I think it was brave of him and he did well.. I say he did a good job and the way that people are reacting just gies to show how closed minded that people still are .. people need to get over it I mean he is a performer and he performed and I loved it .. Great job I'd give him a pat on the back
Adam Lambert is the real deal. People need to get a life, and there's loads of stuff on youtube of previous Adam Lambert performances from before American Idol with the same kind of theme. He is the new breed.. he's gonna change things. ITS F'N 2010. GROW A PAIR. Put your kids to bed if you don't want them to watch, and you know what's funny every generation has someone who pushes the envelope. When Elvis came out with his hip thrusts it appalled people, when the beatles started talking about LSD it appaled people.. But people still listened and they became legends. F tha hata's Adam. Your'e gonna change the scene.
I love Adam. This was not his best vocal moment, but everyone has days. On the topic of the performance itself, I loved it. I am completely for pushing the entertainment envelope. If you don't like it, change the channel. But, I think he is getting harsher treatment than a woman, or even a straight man would. You can have whatever beliefs you want about gays and sex, but this is America, and this country was founded on freedom of expression, in whatever form it may come, and if the close-minded people of this country can't see that, then that's their problem.
PS: On the matter of children, it is up to the parent what is or is not appropriate for their child, depending on age, of coarse.
Myself, and most likely, the other people with my views, are happy to hear other's opinions, and cna accept them as that if they are based in truth and fact. I hope that the other side can accept ours as well.
This is justan example of how our nation feels.
There is a double standard.
Period.
No discussion.
There is no comparison between Tim Curry and Lambert. Tim Curry is an actor who played Frank N. Furter in a movie. He then took off his costume and went home to his relatively normal, quiet life. I've seen Tim in concert and he's nothing like Adam. I have the nasty feeling that what Adam showed us on Sunday night was WHO HE IS! Fans don't care if he's gay, but we don't appreciate his hostility.
I was an Adam fan, he was great on AI last season, but I agree with Carol below that his AMC performance was crude and a huge turnoff for me. I suppose his friends are like that, too bad he can't see the bigger picture.
I wrote earlier and find it very interesting to see the continued reactions and comments. Please understand, Audience, it doesn't matter if Adam is gay or bi or heterosexual. That's not the point. There's a standard for accepable behavior from everyone. Would his actions be acceptable in a class room? On a bus? In a boardroom of a corporation? If not, then why should it be allowed and condoned on television just because it's affiliated with music? As I said, humans have sunk to a new low if they think this type of sexually explicit behavior is normal or necessary to sell music. It's not. It would be nice to see class, etiquette, respect and manners brought back. Both schools and/or parents are not doing the great job that they did when I was being taught. I hope Adam Lambert continues his great music and I will continue to listen and watch him, but with a much different attitude about him, sad to say.
