2010 Winter Olympics medal counts, tools for keeping count
The 2010 Winter Olympics are underway and today makes the sixth day of global competition. One of the most important aspects of the Olympics is the medal counts and this year you can find some handy tools to keep count of the medals. One of the easiest methods for keeping track of the medals is through the official Medals Olympic page and by downloading the Olympics Medal Count Widget Tracker.
In 1980, USA speed skater Eric Heiden won five gold medals during the Winter Olympics. He holds the record for the most gold medal wins. For the 2010 Winter Olympics there are several countries that have won gold, but not by the same individual. Nations with three gold medals each include Germany, Korea, and Switzerland. The United States, France, Canada, and Sweden each have two gold medal wins.
Bjorn Daehlie, a cross country skier from Norway holds the record for winning the most medals during any Winter Olympics. Throughout his career, he won 29 medals. Apolo Ohno has made the United States proud as he now has a total of six medals, the most for any man from the United States. Bonnie Blair also has six medals for speed skating, tying her with Apolo Ohno and making her the U.S. female with the most medals.
