2009 Golden Globe Awards nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a Moition Picture Drama

Presented each year by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globe Awards recognize and honor outstanding achievements in both television and motion pictures. The first Golden Globes were presented in January 1944.

Today, the nominees for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture- Drama were announced. The Golden Globes will be held on January 17, 2010 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California and will air live on NBC at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The following actrors were nominated for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards for the year ending on December 31, 2009


Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama 2009 Golden Globe Nominees

Jeff Bridges- Crazy Heart
George Clooney- Up In The Air
Colin Firth- A Single Man
Morgan Freeman-Invictus
Tobey Maguire-Brothers

Jeff Bridges has been won three Golden Globes: one in the Best Supporting Actor category and two in Best Actor. He won Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Contender and two Best Actor Golden Globes for The Fisher King and Starman. This marks the ninth Golden Globe nomination for George Clooney. George Clooney won two Golden Globe Awards, one for Best Supporting Actor for Syriana and Best Actor for O Brother Where Art Thou?

This is the first Golden Globe nomination for Colin Firth and Tobey Maguire. This is the fifth golden Globe nomination for Morgan Freeman. He previously won the Best Actor Golden Globe for his role in Driving Miss Daisy.

Last year’s nominees were Leonardo DiCaprio for Revolutionary Road, Frank Langella for Frost/Nixon, Sean Penn for Milk, and Brad Pitt for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Mickey Rourke won last year’s Best Actor Golden Globe for his role in The Wrestler.
