American Idol bid farewell to contestants Haeley Vaughn and Michelle Delamor during its weekly elimination round Thursday.

Despite becoming early favorites the two failed to garner enough votes to stay another week after struggling during Wednesday's performance round.

Delamor, a corporate singer from Florida, took a risk at the request of judges performing Creed's 2000 single "With Arms Wide Open". While she received credit for taking the risk, this after performing "Fallen" by Alicia Keys during the first week, Delamor struggled and as a result was eliminated.

The elimination was somewhat shocking though, as fellow contestant Didi Benami, struggled with Bill Withers' 1972 classic "Lean On Me" earlier this week.

Labeling the entire performance "all over the place" and full of "screeching," 'Idol' judge Simon told Benami "It is frustrating because you get this fantastic opportunity to sing in front of millions and then you do something generic.... a wasted opportunity."

Shocked, Benami watched Delamor perform "With Arms Wide Open" one last time.

Joining Michelle Delamor, both John Park and Jermaine Sellers were eliminated Thursday. It was Haeley Vaughn however, that capped off the night as the last to go.

"Yeah, I think I could definitely use some more experience," Vaughn told Ryan Seacrest after the elimination.

Closing out the second week, Vaughn went on to tell Seacrest she hopes to "learn" more when returning to high school before performing Miley Cyrus' "The Climb".

American Idol returns Tuesday, March 9 at 8pm (FOX).
