People Magazine has released their picks for their annual Most Beautiful People’s list with the return of the same old beauties paired with a dash of something new with Gabourey Sidibe being named as one of the 100.
Usually when these list roll around, people are either pleased with the list or just confused. As the selection process not only relies on just aesthetics, the title can be a little misleading.
One inclusion will definitely bring a smile to many a faces. Precious breakout star Gabourey Sidibe has been named as one of the 100 Most Beautiful People.
Gabby has received some negativity after achieving the success of a great film plus a nomination for an Academy Award.
Shock jock Howard Stern recently went on a nasty tirade about Gabourey Sidibe’s size and how she will be unable to land any other movie roles after starring in Precious. Helping out with the unsolicitated nonsense was weight loss company, AscaiSupply.com, who reportedly wrote the actress a letter urging her to lose weight.
Some fans have even entered into the debate stating that Gabourey’s weight is cause for concern and that it is unhealthy.
We guess Gabby will get the last ha, ha, proving that even though others may take issue with her size she is the final judge on what beauty is and realistically her view is the one that counts the most.
Are the standards of beauty changing?
Other beauties to appear on the list are Zoe Zaldana, Kim Kardashian, Kerry Washington, Halle Berry, Rihanna, and Beyonce to name a few.

It continues to astound me that so few people acknowledge the gendered nature of these comments about Gabby’s weight and alleged health risk.
There are also, remember, fat male actors and comics in the world. I can’t recall any disucussions like this about any of them. How much did Biggie Smalls weigh? Jamie Foxx’s obnoxious “Notorious Precious” comment illustrated the issue perfectly: Biggie used his weight as a personal trademark, even trading on it for his stage name. As a man, he was allowed that, and we all went along with the joke without thinking twice.
Certainly there were few such discussions about Jackie Gleason or Orson Welles (both of whom lived into their 70s, and both of whom found –or created for themselves– a wide variety of roles to play over the course of very successful careers.)
Gabby may well decide to make some changes at some point for health reasons. Until then, let's "judge" her by her talent, not her putative health problems.
These lists are great :) Julia Roberts is #1... and Gabby is in the top 100.... beautiful people in the world.... but Megan Fox is not on the list.

I think she has a beautiful face and looks great in everthing I have seen her appear in on tv and at awards. I think she should be on the list and am happy she is their. I wish some more plus size ladys would be added to the list since I have seen a lot of hot plus size gals before. A mix of diffrent body types is always awsome to have in a list like that.
How did she fit into just one spot on the list?

She's not one of the world's most beautiful people. She's not an attractive woman and she's morbidly obese to boot. People Magazine just picked her because she's been in the news recently, mostly because of her serious weight problem. The magazine's Most Beautiful list has become a joke of late. One year they picked Rumer Willis (!) to be on their Most Beautiful list, and now Gabourey Sidibe? Give me a break.

Fact: Gabourey is morbidly obese. Any doctor on the planet will tell you that weighing in excess of 300lbs is not healthy and carries with it, no pun intended, a myriad of health risks.
Fact: A morbidly obese person was placed on a "Most Beautiful People" list. Do you not see the obvious irony? Being three times the healthy weight for your height is not beautiful.
Gabourey may be a wonderful person. She may be a talented actress, singer, writer, painter, engineer, poet, or pilot. No one has said anything in regards to that, one way or another. She is not, however, beautiful. If being considered beautiful is a concern for her, I would encourage her to see a health care professional for help with her obvious weight problem.
She is not plus sized. She is obese. There is a huge difference (no pun intended)

She has a pretty face, but doesn't fit mainstream america's beauty mold....but really, what black woman does.....Halle Berry? She's barely black, and biracial to boot. Very few black women (and even fewer obese woman) have found their way on this list, it's true, but beauty doesn't necessarily mean attractive to all. Go ahead, black girl!

she was good in 'The Blind Side' but no way does she belong anywhere near this list. For that matter, Julia Roberts is a haggered old horsetooth waterhead, and she belongs nowhere near it either.
But People is good for this pc junk. Remember a few years back they put that wrinkled up old hag from "Titanic" on the list, kind of an "awe shucks" thing.
Seriously, I don't have an issue with her being on the list because she's black, or even because she's obese. My problem is that she's just plain ugly...
I can’t believe some of what I am hearing. There are some bitter people replying to this post. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and just because you don’t feel she fits America’s standards doesn’t mean she is not beautiful to someone else. Yall really need to take a look in the mirror before you start judging someone. What a bunch of losers.

You know we have gone too far with political correctness. This is not beautiful, this is grotesque and ugly. I am obese myself, and when I weighed less I was quite handsome, but that is not the case with my 80 extra lbs. This chick has my whole weight, as her extra. I'm calling BS.
what is this? She is gross. Nobody wants to see her in a movie, and certainly nobody finds her in any way attractive. This is political correctness gone horribly wrong. The employees at People were almost forced to put her on the list just because they didnt want to offend the 50% of Americans who are obese or the 20% of Americans who are black. Please quit trying to pass her off as beautiful because she is not. Trying to compare her to women like Halle Berry or Megan Fox (even with her club thumbs) is just plain wrong and unamerican. Infact I would wager Gabby is somehow linked to Al Queda and trying to destroy America by letting everyone think that being morbidly obses is something to be proud of.

I agree with everyone. She's just flat out not pretty. That has nothing to do with he being black or overweight. IMO, Mo'Nique is far more attractive than Sidibe. Mo'Nique looked great on The Ellene Degeneres Show. Queen Latifah is another example. I don't know if she's on the list, but she's gorgeous. Gabourey is not.
