Gucci Mane was sentenced to 12 months in jail on Thursday for probation violation, and according to a representative at his label, was taken away in handcuffs. This could not have come at a worse time for Gucci, as he was set to release his first major album The State vs Radric Davis December 8, and was poised to take off as he was at the height of his career working with artists such as Usher, Mario, Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas and Wale amongst others.
Gucci joins a long list of hip-hop artists that have faced legal trouble this year, including giants T.I., Lil Wayne and popular Southern-based artist Lil Boosie; all who of whom have been either sentenced to or serving significant jail time over the last 8 months.
No additional details on Gucci's sentencing are available at this time.
Editors Note: Is this a product of bad decision making or over-bearing hip-hop police who are instructed to watch rappers like hawks and arrest when noted of illegal activity? Let me know your thoughts.
