At some point, backyard flock enthusiasts will have enough eggs to enjoy some of them. Many of them will get snagged by the neighbors and friends, as they are a delicious change from the grocery store hen-fruit.

Egg recipes are a good thing to have on hand, as a boon can leave an egg basket overflowing in a couple of hours. Many recipes for eggs can be very versatile, served morning, noon or evening. Many can be prepared very quickly, and can be served using a variety of ingredients- quiche is a favorite, as it can be baked up and served some time later.

First, a look at protein is important, to know the real value of the gift a hen brings nearly every day.

A meal made with eggs as the entree (protein source) can be very healthy, particularly if the eggs are complemented by cheese or another source of protein. Because quiche is often served as a mix and match dish with no end to the offerings, it's able to be offered as a low-fat or low-carb version with little effect on the flavor. The most well-known variety is Quiche Lorraine, named for the region of France.

Quiche is traditionally served at room temperature, though it can be served hot or cold, for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
