Artist spotlight minute on Art McSweeney

The opening reception for Hand Print Press at 15 will be December 11, 2009, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition is of 21 prints by 21 local and regional artists. Hand Print Press is a collective of professional printmakers working out of and in support of the UMKC printmaking studios. The artwork in the show was selected by Bruce Hartman from the annual HPP group portfolios. Among those who will be exhibiting is Art McSweeney.

Art McSweeney's works, which include drawings, paintings,  and prints, are a contemporary intrigue.  From the tongue-in-cheek to the thoroughly riveting challenges to what might otherwise seem mundane, McSweeney and his artistic style is gaining an impressive and well-deserved amount of attention . He was awarded second prize by juror Andrea Pollan, Director and Curator of the Curator's Office, Washington, D.C., in the Manchester National Juried Fine Art Exhibition 2009. The exhibition was shown at 12 12 Gallery in Richmond, VA from June 28, 2009 through August 2, 2009.
