Dressing for the wedding rush

Diane Von Furstenberg "Kittine" dress

June is wedding month and many of us will be in the midst of wedding chaos these next few weeks. Just because you’re not a bride-to-be or a part of the wedding party doesn’t mean that things aren’t just as crazy for you! Finding the right outfit can be just as daunting as the wedding planning itself! Well, okay, maybe not, but it is a tasking duty. Thank goodness for gift registries. Now if only they could tell you what to wear….here are some modern takes on what’s appropriate to don as a guest this season. These looks will get you noticed without being so flashy that everyone thinks you’re trying to steal the thunder.

Leave it to Diane Von Furstenberg to design a sweet little dress that’s both sexy and smart. This crinkled chiffon dress has just enough “show” to get some heads turning without causing a distraction. It’s a conservative look that won’t compromise your style. Available at Bloomingdale's, $445.

Maje Genepi silk jumpsuit

This silk jumpsuit by Maje is a great and classic look for any girl who is looking for something a little less traditional than a dress. It’s feminine fabric and cut boast both great style and sophistication with an air of ease. Pair it with some strappy wedge sandals, an up do and you’re set. Perfect for day to evening transitions.  Available at Net-A-Porter, $245.

Satin belted dress, Banana Republic

Make a subtle, but iconic, statement in a dress like this one from Banana Republic. Its classic cut is fail proof and the tabbed short sleeves and belt add volumes of style without going overboard. A dress like this says you’re modern, sharp and have knowledge for all things fashion. Throw on closed-toed pumps for a strong and sexy look or opt for open-toe to add a hint of playfulness. Go with a long, sleek and simple clutch for this one instead of a purse.  Available at Banana Republic, $98.

Sariah "Charlotte" skirt

If you’re heading to a more casual, day-time ceremony- perhaps outdoors- consider a full skirt like this one from Sariah. It’s bold and bright and incredibly swanky! Top it off by tucking in a fitted top for a sassy and more casual look (cute belt optional), or pair it with a sleeveless ruffle top for a more formal look. Simple pumps and a cute little cardigan finish off this look flawlessly.  Available at Barneys, $495.
