I am a fan of everything “Guerrilla” and I’m not talking about the hairy kind. Guerrillas are those who use unconventional tactics to accomplish their goals. Pick a topic and there are books, videos, and other Guerrilla materials available on the subject.
Job hunting is no exception!
Let’s face it; if you want a job, you must stand out in the flood of mediocrity bombarding hiring managers and human resources folks. That’s what Guerrillas do! Here’s the secret for success– to stand out takes additional work not everybody is willing to do. That’s right, it takes work to find work.
I’ve heard “nobody will give me a job” a million times. The people saying that don’t understand that very thought is their problem! Nobody is going to give you a job, you’ve have to get out there and earn it! The playing field has changed. Rules are different in today’s economy. It’s survival of the fittest out there and, as Darwin said, “adapt or die.”
So, what do Guerrilla job hunters do differently?
They don’t use cookie-cutter, cliché-riddled resumes. Guerrilla resumes are personal marketing materials that look and read differently than the others and are customized to each job they apply for.
They don’t post resumes on the job boards and wait for offers to roll in. They spend their time aggressively pursuing the people who can actually make hiring decisions and get in front of them.
Guerrillas are fully prepared for meeting employers; they know about the company and hold a full arsenal of practiced answers to questions that may be thrown their way.
Guerrillas are out to win.
So, how do you become a Guerrilla job hunter?
Like I said, it will take work, but landing the job is well worth the effort!
Good luck!
