Unemployment and Job Seekers

If you have been job hunting online, you probably have gotten e-mails from job sites that promise you your dream job. You probably also have gotten a host of offers to return to school for everything from nursing to work from home classes. Sometimes they may sound pretty good and you click the link on what looks like it may be the job for you. It opens up and you find that there is an advertisement offering education, free ring tones, or a survey. This page usually wants some personal information about you, not to mention those all important cell phone digits. If you go past that page it usually opens up into some "free" offers for magazines, vitamins, health digests, etc., and it wants you to agree to try something for "free" before you buy. If you click nothing, it gives you another page, etc. After all this, you never see the great job that the site lured you in with, and probably didn't have to offer anyway unless you tried some "free" stuff.

This is a selling technique that attempts to squeeze money and information out of a job seeker, who in some cases, doesn't have the discretionary income to buy products that they probably can do without until they are employed again. Don't let these types of sites discourage you from looking for a job, but learn to spot them and buy only from sites you trust.

If you want some real information before you get roped into something go to http://www.scambusters.org, it gives a list of the top work at home scams. There is also http://www.job-seekers-edge.com, with useful information about the type of "job offers" that are just a way to gain personal information about you, or that seek to cyber-exploit you to work for nothing and isn't an unemployed person doing just that without their help? Stay strong. Take care.
