As you're no doubt aware, the Fourth of July is a quiet, contemplative holiday when most people stay indoors all day to meditate on the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the freedoms that make this nation so adequate. For those of you with a more restless nature, I present what I can only assume will be your only options this Saturday:
The El Rio in San Francisco will be hosting eight bands for eight dollars along with free BBQ. The music starts at 2pm, with El Rio's happy hour starting at 1pm. The lineup includes Birdmonster, Two Sheds, Low Red Land, Finn Riggins, D Numbers, Birds & Batteries, Writer, and Murray the Thief.
If you're not all rocked out (and still mobile), you'll have plenty of time to make it to the Gingerbread House in San Jose for another five bands. At most, you might miss the first band, but I can personally guarantee they are terrible. Even so, you'll still be able to catch the excellent lineup consisting of The Unit Breed, Silian Rail, Ugly Winner, and Sleeptalks. The show starts promptly at 9pm. Keep in mind this is actually someone's house and not a club, so...pants, optional?
